It was Saturday, about three weeks after I met Jayden. We were sitting in the music room, as was the norm for our group on Saturday afternoons. Jayden and I sat on the couch together; Dakota and Olivia on the floor, leaning against the couch. Ian and Violet were busy annoying each other over by the stage, and Alex had his nose in a book again.
I leaned into Jayden, his arm tightening around my shoulders, as I thought back over the past few weeks.
I had gotten to know everyone pretty well, and I now considered them to be my friends. We spent almost every day together, after all. Jayden did make sure we had some time to ourselves though.
I thought back to one of the first times Jayden and I hung out alone. I smiled, remembering how shy and awkward we were then. Closing my eyes, I let the memory play in my mind.
We sat side by side, close, but still not touching. We talked a little, but barely. Mostly we watched students pass by our bench.
"So... How did you meet your friends?" I asked, fidgeting with my hands as I watched this blonde girl walk by in a rush.
"Well Dakota I knew my whole life. His parents would always bring him along whenever his dad needed to meet with mine." He paused thinking. "DJ and I kinda took Alex under our wing in middle school. He was a grade younger than us, but he was in a lot of our classes. There were some kids that liked to give him crap for it, so we made it our job to watch out for him."
"That was real nice of you." I smiled at him, glad to learn my mate was kind to others.
"Yeah, it worked out great. He turned out to be a great friend; when you can get him to put down his book, that is." We shared a laugh before he continued. "Olivia joined our trio at the end of freshman year when Dakota found out she was his mate."
"How did they meet?" I interrupted.
"I'll save that story for Liv or DJ to tell you." I nodded, waiting for him to continue. "Ian and Violet kinda followed Olivia in. Ian, because he was her twin, and Violet because she was their best friend. We didn't mind, with the new joiners we finally had enough people to start the band DJ and I had always wanted."
"You're in a band? Is that why I kept running into you guys in the music room?" I asked surprised, the pieces fitting together.
"Yeah. What were you doing in there, anyway?" He turned to me, as I looked at my lap.
"Oh, uh nothing." I twirled my fingers nervously.
"Really? I know you weren't just lost because I've been told you were in there more than once." He propped himself up on one arm as he leaned closer to me.
"It wasn't anything important, really." My voice pleading.
Thankfully he sat back and left it alone, although I was sure he would bring it up again sometime.
I sighed at the thought. I had almost forgot about that little problem.
Jayden smiled down at me, presumably thinking I was sighing out of comfort.
Samantha.
I looked around, thinking it was someone from my group talking to me.
Samantha. I realized it was actually Alpha Ethan trying to get my attention through the pack link.
Yeah?
Would it possible for you to come home for the rest of the weekend?
Yeah, I think that should be fine. Is there something wrong?
