We finally got on the rode after I dragged everyone out of the house and pushed them into Regan's white Subaru Impreza. While on the road, the girls were buzzing with excitement, this was only to be expected. The parties that the students at Northland High School held were more than just dirty dancing and sloppy drinking. No, these parties were held at a high standard. All the girls would dress in their hottest outfits and the boys were sure to always play it cool. Northland consisted of some of the richest kids in the state so the parties always were to be remembered especially since it was Caleb Brewer's party that we were attending.
As Regan drove, I was seated next to her in the passenger's seat, leaving Ashlyn, Taylor, and Liz at the back. Regan turned up the music from her radio as we swayed to the beat while rolling down all the windows. When we drove past other vehicles, we laughed at the drivers' reactions. Without a care in the world, we screamed the lyrics of the song, making sure to sing extra dramatic at the chorus.
"This Friday night! Do it all again!" we sang, finishing the end of the song. We burst into another fit of giggles at how off tune our voices were.
Once I turned down the volume, I confronted the girls, "So how are you ladies getting home?"
They sighed, knowing how compulsive I was about watching out for them. It was all for the good since I was just making sure they were safe. After giving me a playful look, Taylor answered, "David's driving me home."
"You sure he isn't driving you to a hotel?" Liz teased causing all of us to snicker.
"Who knows?" she shot back making me raise an eyebrow in suspicion. For a moment I thought she was completely serious before she broke into a full size grin. "Don't worry! He'll have me home before my parents go AWOL on my ass."
"Good, now how about you guys?" I asked as I turned in my seat to look at the remaining girls at the back.
"We're sleeping over at Regan's." Ashlyn replied casually as Liz nodded in agreement.
Shifting to face Regan, I questioned, "Didn't you say you were getting drunk tonight?"
"Of course I am!" she assured, smiling wide just thinking about it. Before I could interrogate her any further, she continued, "Stacey is our designated driver. Ari's driving her to the party but when we leave, she'll drive us back to my house where we're all going to crash."
"Great, now I know you'll be in one piece after this night." I announced, the stress released off my shoulders.
The girls shook their head in amusement, they had been friends with me long enough to know about how much I worry if I don't know they'll be alright. Before we could continue this conversation any longer, we pulled into Caleb Brewer's neighbourhood. The houses were beautiful; each home amazed us as we drove by. For normal Seattle, it was surprising to see how well done they were. Soon we stopped in front of Caleb's place which was probably the biggest house on the block. The driveway winded up a slight hill which at the top was where the house rested on. The mini mansion was framed with stone at the bottom of the pillars and was coated a nice brown on the rest of the place. It felt homey even with its size. There were already so many cars parked that we had to park a half block away.
Making our way up the winding, stone pathway, I noticed how huge the home was up close. The landscaping was also perfect with a striking, classic cemented fountain in the front. Every tree and bush suited its place, surrounding the entrance. Once we climbed up the steps to the door, we could already hear the booming music from inside.
Without bothering to knock, knowing it would be open, we entered the magnificent home. Inside, there were teens everywhere, covering even the wide staircase. Many were dancing, some grinding, in the converted dance floor. There was DJ in the corner, swaying to the beat. Strobe lights were set up as different colours flashed everywhere. Some were already completely wasted as they lay still on a couch in the massive living room or sat with eyes closed on the stairs.
