Holy shit. What the hell did I just do? I kneed Caleb Brewer in the balls. Holy shit. This is not good. I was just filled with so much rage because of the situation. Plus when he grabbed my wrist, I was so disgusted and I felt a need to protect myself. Okay, maybe I wanted to do it too because I was just so angry at him. Overall, I blame it on impulse. If I didn't want someone touching me, I wouldn't let them.
The glorious, worshipped Caleb Brewer was now crouching on the ground, clutching his private part for dear life. It made me feel a little bad but I couldn't pity him fully. He deserved what he got. Actually, he deserved much more than that. His cheek was still red from the solid slap I gave him. It made me cringe to even think about how much it would hurt. Danielle was already rushing towards him to see if he was okay, giving me the chance to slip away as fast as I could.
Without looking back, I rushed down the stairs, trying not to trip. Quickly, I yanked the door open and entered back into the abandoned hallway. I closed the door behind me, hoping that somehow it would slow them down a bit. Sprinting, I made my way down the empty hall and found myself back at the crowded area. Couples were still making out but now it was way more intense and they were still unashamed of their actions like before. It almost seemed as they were going to do the deed right there in the public! I would be surprised if no one went home pregnant. Not to my disbelief, one of the couples was Taylor and David. They didn't notice me as I hurried past the now really wasted teens that were passing out on the floor.
Eerily, I could feel Caleb and Danielle not far behind me causing me to quicken my pace as I ducked through the crowd of dancing pubescent teenagers on the first floor. I needed to find Kyler fast before they got to him. Swiftly, I found my way to the back entrance and hurried down the set of stairs towards the pool where I last saw him.
It seemed that my friends were already tired of playing chicken and were now relaxing at the pool side instead. Liz and Ari looked a little tipsy as she was placed on his lap while they laughed loudly like maniacs. Tate was enjoying his time in the pool still with a blond and brunette on each side of him. Beckett was sipping on a beer while watching the group in the pool start another round of volleyball. Beside him, Regan was passed out while Sienna was fanning her face. Ashlyn was happily placed next to Kyler as they were in a deep conversation.
I raced towards them with the last of my strength, completely out of breath from all the rushing. Heels were hell when you needed to get somewhere fast. I already felt the painful blisters forming at the back of my foot but I ignored the agony as I made my way towards them. No one noticed me as I approached them in a hurry.
"Kyler!" I called, still out of breath. This brought their attention as they brought their focus on me. Ashlyn gave me a questioning look while Kyler just seemed confused. After taking another deep breath, I got out, "Can I speak to you in private please?"
Now Sienna and Beckett were giving me a curious glance. Well, Beckett still had on his poker face like usual but he gave me a quick glimpse which meant he was listening. Ashlyn was now genuinely worried as she gazed back and forth between me and Kyler. It was understandable; Kyler and I never talked much one on one. Also by the way I rushed in; I think everyone knew something was up.
"Yeah sure." Kyler replied hesitantly with an anxious expression plastered on his face.
Quickly, I led him away from the group. I stopped when we were a little ways away from the bon fire, making sure no one was close enough to hear. Nervously, I turned my attention towards him. "Look Kyler, I don't know how to tell you this. Actually, I don't even know if you'll believe me."
"Is it something bad?" he questioned fearfully which instantly made me feel awful. How was I supposed to break this to him? Why did I have to be the one telling the poor guy this horrible news?
"Uhm," I started unsure of how to answer as I tugged a hand through my long hair in distress. "Well, I'm not sure. It's not about me so I don't really get to have an opinion on it."
Kyler's face suddenly dropped, understanding that it was bad news. Really bad news. It might be worse than he thinks too. Seeing his bothered face made me glad for what I did to Caleb, even if he was the Caleb Brewer. He honestly deserved it and I deserved to hit him since I had to be the one to break the awful news to Kyler. It was not an easy task. I felt like I was the one who cheated on him. That's how much guilt I was already feeling.
"Where's Danielle?" he asked firmly. "Did something happen to her?!"
Giving him a nervous look, I replied, "Well, she's fine. It's just—
"Where is she?!" Kyler demanded. I could tell he didn't mean to be so harsh but the nerves and stress seemed to be taking a toll on him. Honestly, I wouldn't blame him at all.
"She's inside with Taylor and David." I lied, fidgeting with my hands. He seemed to be relieved knowing where his girlfriend was but that would be the least of his problems after I told him what I knew. My eyes couldn't even meet his as they darted all over the place. "The news is actually about Dan—
"Cassie, baby!" a voice interrupted. Caleb Brewer's perfect voice, I should add. Why the fuck was this douche suddenly try to cozy up to me? Oh wait, I do know why.
Turning around, I gave him the dirtiest glare before spitting out, "Caleb! Were you going to explain Kyler about the situation?"
Danielle wasn't far behind him and to be honest, she was a mess. Like a mess. Her clothes were all crumpled and the flawless hair before was now sticking out in different places. Now, her mascara was running a little down her face while her lipstick was smudged. Doesn't she know how to hide the deed? Once she took sight of Kyler, she immediately backed away in hopes he didn't see her. I was thinking she probably didn't want to be there when he finds out what she's done. Luckily for Danielle, Kyler didn't notice her and was only focused on his douche of a friend who was heading our way.
"No, no. I was just thinking I should give you a ride home now." Caleb answered smoothly, taking hold of my hand. Repulsed, I immediately yanked my hand out of his grasp.
Kyler shot us a curious look, gazing between Caleb and me. After a moment, he spoke, "You two know each other? I had no idea you guys were so familiar with each other."
"Damn, you caught us." Caleb admitted dramatically as he snaked a muscular arm around my waist. I struggled to get free from his grip but he held on tighter as he continued, "The truth is Cassidy is actually the so called girlfriend I was talking about."
"What the fuck?" I snapped, glowering at him. "That is not true, Kyler! Caleb is a lying son of a b—
Before I could even finish the profanity, the jerk already covered a big hand over my mouth which stifled the rest of my sentence. He gave Kyler an apologetic look as he explained, "Cass is just a little ticked about me telling you. She wanted to keep us a secret."
"Oh I see." Kyler agreed, nodding sympathetically. He didn't just believe the asshole, did he? He gave me an honest smile before adding, "Cassidy, you know you don't have to be embarrassed about telling anyone. I'm sure everyone will be accepting about your relationship with Caleb."
Like hell anyone's going to find out about this non-existent relationship! The bastard was only doing this to stop me from spilling his dirty, little secret. That conniving, evil scum bag! There's no way I would be able to survive a relationship with him, fake or real.
Caleb turned to me, grinning widely. I knew it was fake, I'm sure the dick hated me just as much as I hated him. "See babe! Everyone's going to be fine with our relationship."
"Oh yeah, everyone except for me." I retorted coldly. Then I stomped on Caleb fucking Brewer's foot. Real hard. This violent side was becoming permanent.
