Aurora's POV
God he's so beautiful. I thought to myself. I'd never met a boy that asked questions with the intention of actually listening to the answer you gave. I can remember numerous occasions when I was growing up that my father just humming along a reply to whatever my mother had said to him causing a screaming match. Where the hell did he come from?
I snapped out of my daze, realizing he'd be staring at me for a while, patiently awaiting an answer to his question. He was sporting a kind, knowing smile. I shot him an apologetic one back before conjuring up an answer.
"Okay. Not here though. It's too loud." I murmured, glancing around the confined shop. A heady feeling of claustrophobia set in. I thanked my lucky stars that Troy was by my side; people seemed to go to extreme lengths to get out of his way. Taking a quick peek of his face, I realized it was because his mouth was set in a grim line and his eyes had this dark, serious look about them. It was unlike anything I'd seen on him thus far.
"...And that's kinda where the want for my own bakery stemmed from. I want it to be a place where people can come to just be together and maybe have a good home baked good while they're at it." I finished off my unnecessarily long story. There was no need for me to tell him all the background information, but I found myself wanting to. For the first time in I don't even know how long, I wanted to let someone in and it fucking terrified me. The familiar suffocating feeling I've had ever since the accident came raring its fat, ugly head at me.
My breathing began to quicken as my heart rate increased. Squeezing my eyes shut I tried focusing on one singular thing to anchor me back down to earth.
Calm down. Calm down. Calm down.
Hyper-focusing in on Troy's words, I found my body coming down from the panic-induced high by merely the soothing tone of his deep voice. I swallowed the lump in my throat and reopened my eyes. I thanked the heavens he hadn't noticed my mini 30 second freak out just then. That would've been totally embarrassing, not to mention impossible to explain.
"So does this mean you'll bake for me sometime?" He asked with a cheeky grin.
**
I sat hunched over my dorm desk, desperately trying to summon the answer to the math problem on the page to come to me. I leaned back for the fourth time in the past half hour, stretching out my cramped muscles. The cheap office chair, that I had to guess was no younger than fifteen years old, was doing nothing for my body. Everything in my room appeared to be outdated and overused. From the dingy, yellowed floor tiles to the chipping paint on the wall, you could tell that this place had lacked some serious TLC over the years. I guess that's what happens when you live in subsidized housing on campus.
Letting out a loud growl of frustration, I gave up and slumped forward completely. I rested my cheek against the cold, fake wood and huffed in annoyance. A few moments later, I jerked up in my seat and took a few shallow sniffs. Groaning as I realized my entire floor still reeked of weed, just like it had this morning when I was making my way to the dining hall. This is what I get for not immediately requesting to move rooms when I found out the kid down the hall was a major pothead.
I cradled my right cheek in the palm my hand while tapping my pencil against the scratched up desktop. If I could just fucking focus on what the damn problem was asking of me, I would be fine. God forbid my mind think of anything other than a certain tall, God-esque guy with the softest looking hair and most incredible eyes I've ever seen. I mean, seriously. This wasn't teen wolf; guys like him couldn't possibly exist in this universe. Or be interested in me.
