Chapter Thirteen 

Natsu opened his eyes to find himself facing his ceiling, soft snoring was heard beside him and he turned to see Happy sleeping. Dried up tears staining his blue fur and Natsu felt his heart drop. He sat up and noticed a black suit thrown on the floor.

"Thank you, thank you for everything Natsu." Her smiling face left a huge imprint in his mind and Natsu stood up, he quickly pulled his shirt over him. Clothing himself with his usual outfit and fixed his scarf. 

The way their lips had met, he had never been the expert when it came to love. After all, he was raised by a dragon.  Natsu ran out the door and continued to run to the place he was so use to running to. The sun was barely coming out, the moon disappearing into the blue sky. The grass was still wet from the night, the cold air brushing past him as he ran. 

He came to a stop, the apartment was silent and seemed empty. Natsu knew no one was going to be in there, she was gone. He still climbed up to the window, there was a high chance it was going to be locker. They were suppose to help clean out her apartment after the funeral, but then Natsu caused a commotion, so he didn't know what had happened. 

He took a deep breath and pressed against the window, surprisingly it opened smoothly. The room was dark and Natsu saw that her bed was unmade. He then heard a door open, the light from the bathroom lit up the dark room. Natsu held his breath, unable to move or speak. 

She had a toothbrush in her mouth, her blonde hair was loose and messy from her sleep. She noticed the pink haired boy and took her toothbrush out of her mouth. 

"Natsu? What are you doing here-" Natsu quickly sped from the window towards her bringing her into a tight hug. "Wha-Natsu?" She was confused and her toothbrush fell out of her hand. Natsu pulled away from her gently, he looked at her. 

This wasn't a dream, because his heart was still hurting from the memories of her dying. Everything was real, everything was ok.

"We didn't go on that mission with the beast?" He asked grabbing her hand. Lucy blinked and shook her head.

"No remember Gray and Juvia teamed up with Lyon to complete that mission, luckily no one was seriously injured." Lucy answered, shuddering when she remembered Juvia's bruise from getting hit by the beast. 

"Gray-sama kissed my bruise! Didn't you Gray-sama!." Lucy smiled remembering her friend's words and looked curiously at Natsu. Natsu let go of the breath he was holding and brought her into a hug once again.

"Natsu? What's wrong-" Natsu quickly pulled away and held onto her arms, he looked down. Lucy was confused on why he was acting so strange.

"I had a dream-no a nightmare-a terrible nightmare..." Lucy felt her heart shatter at his vulnerable state and he looked up at her, his onyx eyes boring into hers. "It was about you."

She then felt a wet drop on her arm and noticed that the pink haired salamander was crying, tears trailed down his cheeks and Lucy grasped his hand reassuringly. 

"You died Luce...you died and I couldn't bring you back..." He whispered. "Every time I would see you or have you...you were gone again..." He rested his head on her shoulder crying. Lucy let go of his hand and wrapped her arms around him. 

"It's ok, I'm here Natsu...I'm here and I will never leave you.." She whispered, her head resting on his shoulder. She felt Natsu's arms wrap around her body and she relaxed. Her heart beating rapidly from being so close to him. She had never seen him look so broken, yet even in his vulnerable state, she still looked up to him. 

Natsu Dragneel never failed to amaze her, maybe that is why she was so in love with him. 

After several minutes they pulled away and Natsu wiped is eyes. Lucy smiled softly at him and noticed his eyes were on hers once again. Lucy, feeling embarrassed, quickly smoothed down her hair. 

"Wh-what?" She asked blushing. Natsu's face was now close and one more inch his lips would be on hers. Lucy's face grew more warm. 

Natsu watched her face closely, she was red and he knew she was nervous. Yet he remembered the words she had said before. 

"...at least I have a chance to do something that I didn't get a chance to do before..."Without any hesitation, he leaned in. Lucy froze, but returned the kiss.

Natsu watched as Lucy packed her bags, she had to go on a training camp with Yukino. She was going to practice and try out new things with her magic. Lucy smiled at him and hugged him tightly. Pecking him on the cheek, she opened her door. Natsu trailed behind her, a suitcase in his hand, the team was waiting for them.

"I'll be back in a month." She spoke up. He grinned at her brightly, Happy now flying beside them. 

"I'll be waiting." Lucy nodded, a smile on her face, she grabbed her bag and walked towards Yukino who was waiting for her.

"So you guys finally confessed." Erza commented noticing the love struck look Natsu had. "Who confessed first?"

"She did....Lucy did...." Natsu answered remembering the words Lucy had said. Maybe that dream was the shove Natsu needed. Now he was happy and at rest.

"Damn it flame-brain." Gray grumbled handing Erza money. Juvia simply laughed, her hand interlaced with Gray's free hand.

Igneel watched the scene happily.

"That's my boy..."

And that is the last chapter.

At first I was going to have her actually be dead, but when my sister read the draft she didn't agree. 

And i quote, "Do you want people to hate you?"

So I went with a more happier ending.
