Remus POV
"You're an hour early! Harry doesn't turn one until 3:15!" The young James whined accusingly. This was a memory of Sirius's, obviously before the switch was made, but what it was of was yet to be decided. Young Sirius's face lacked its usual smirk, which was alarming enough, but the fact that he had arrived early anywhere was what set me off. As Sirius pushed past James and headed into the living room, baby Harry squealed with delight. "PAFOO!!" James and Sirius stopped cold in their tracks. It wasn't Harry's first word, Lily had said it was something like "bable" (referring to a baby bottle). "Did he just say what I think he said?" Sirius asked, "PAFOO!" The delighted squeal came again. "Thank god that wasn't his first word, otherwise I might have strangled you." Real-James muttered. Real-Sirius and Harry, on the other hand, weren't listening and instead were almost crying on each other's shoulders. As for younger Sirius, he ran to pick up baby Harry and spin him around, both of them laughing hysterically. Younger James chuckled a little and then returned to his frantic state. "Can you actually watch Harry while I finish setting up?" He asked. Now it was Sirius's turn to frown, "We need to talk." "What about?" "Me being your secret keeper, you need to switch." Young James's face turned white. "What did you do?" He asked. "Nothing! I swear! I'm just too obvious to do it for you." Sirius explained. James frowned again, "Why?" "When people think of you choosing a secret keeper," Sirius explained, "they think of me as your first choice. That means I'm the Death Eaters' first choice to interrogate." Pensive Harry, who was still being held by Pensive Sirius, babbled incoherently. "I thought you said that you don't crack under pressure." James replied. Sirius' face turned dark, "They have ways of making people talk, James, terrifying ways. I honestly don't know how well I'll do against them in that situation, especially with the life I've had, trust me." "I do, but unless you can come up with a better person, we're keeping you." James started to walk towards a pile of streamers resting on an armchair. "I wouldn't have come here so early without one." Sirius said, making James turn around with interest. "Use Peter." James' facial expression was that of pure confusion. "Peter?! But- why? Who would pick him?" "Exactly!" Sirius exclaimed, "And he has the best disguise! He's a mouse!" "A rat, Sirius, he's a rat." James said, making real Remus snort and mutter some sarcastic remark under his breath. "I do, however see where you're going." Pensive James continued, "I'll talk to Lily when she gets back, but Peter is a good idea. Once she approves, we'll make the switch." Pensive Sirius grinned and looked down at an equally happy Harry while James continued to set up for the party. This memory, no longer needed, started to fade and was replaced by one I didn't recognize. It was another one of Sirius', and judging by his facial expression, it wasn't a good one. As I looked around the room in the Pensive, the calendar caught my eye. The date, to be more specific, was that of the day James and Lily died. The next memory will take place on October 31st, 1981.A/N:
Sorry for the late update!!!!!! I'm trying, really, but with the writers block and school, it's been impossible. I'll try to get the next chapter out ASAP, but I honestly don't know when that is. I hope you guys liked this one, though!-The_Fandom_Bookworm
Edit: I thought it was from Lily's POV so I screwed up towards the end, all better now (sorry if anyone got confused)!
