(Harry's POV)
"Alright folks!" Kingsley said, "Today, we will review all of the week's coming events. Anyone got anything special?" No one spoke up. This was how these meetings usually went, Kingsley would ask if anything was happening, and occasionally someone would say they had to take off one day for some reason. This week held nothing special for us. Ever since the Battle of Hogwarts, the world seemed bland without some adventure from time to time. After all, the most exciting thing that has happened in the last three years was when Teddy said his first word (it was wewoof, we all nearly cried).
I wasn't the only one who felt bored. Every couple of days, Ron would complain saying that he wanted to go on an adventure or fight some Death Eaters, and then we'd all tell him he couldn't.
Did I mention I also zone out at meetings? No? Well now you know. It usually ends up with me missing a story about someone's pet, but today it looks like I missed something big. "What's going on?" I asked Ron. "Death Eater attack in Diagon Alley. No one hurt, just a lot of shock." He replied. "We think the people want a speech." I was shocked too, this was the most eventful thing that had happened in three years. "Death Eaters?" I asked, "Didn't they disband?" "They must've gotten back together." Kingsley mused. "But why? And also, I can't give a speech! I'm terrible at addressing the public!" He wasn't wrong, one everything had settled down about a year ago, he left the position as Minister and became Head Auror so he wouldn't have to talk as much. This seemed to help his self esteem, as being on the field (not that there was any reason to be there nowadays) proved to be better for him than sitting in an office all the time. "Why don't I make the speech?" I heard myself ask. What was I thinking?! Why did I do that?! I can't make a speech either!! "What a good idea, Harry! Thank you!" Kingsley exclaimed, I guess he thought he was going to have to make a speech himself.
Ten minutes later...
I stood at the podium, in front of at least 30 flashing cameras, waiting for the Minister to cue me in. The wait was agonizing, but he finally let me speak.
"Citizens of the wizarding world," I found myself saying. "As you might or might not know, earlier today there was an attack in Diagon Alley. Luckily no one was hurt, but as your government, we always make sure our people are safe. In light of this, I strongly advise that everyone keep safe while we investigate these attackers." Applause came from the audience as something of a stronger emotion came to my mind. "Furthermore, to anyone watching this who has any intention of hurting the people of the Wizarding World, this should not and cannot happen again. Together, we can and will eradicate all discrimination against all blood types, and as a member of the Ministry's Auror force, I will make it my sole focus to ensure those who commit any hate crimes against anyone (unless permitted by law) will be punished."
As I stood at the podium, one by one the audience members began to clap. "Thank you." I said as I stepped down from the stage, my body burning with anger and adrenaline. When I had just gotten down the stairs, someone working downstairs rushed up to me and whisper-yelled: "It's Black. He's in the Department of Mysteries."
Ron had only just opened his mouth to talk to me as I ran downstairs to see Sirius.A/N:
How was that for a chapter? I'd love it if I could get some reviews and advice as to what you guys thought. Anyway, as for They're Back, I'm debating whether to continue the story or not. I don't have many ideas as this one seems to keep me occupied most of the time. Hopefully I'll decide soon.Ciao,
