Saber's POV
Nia is being hyper. She's so excited to meet her sister, since she's always wanted one. She can't wait, and is rushing everything. She decides to start the journey to the portal as soon as we are finished eating and drinking when we take a break. By just running off.
"Why do we have to leave right away?" I whine mentally to her as we run.
"Well, for one my da-uncle could still be chasing us, and we should just get there as soon as possible. We don't have all the time in the world, you know. Who knows what might happen? Oh! Also, Dark Hounds or Dark Warriors or both could be after us!" Nia rapidly explains, her excitement obvious in her high pitched voice and quick speaking. But, I do have to admit, she has valid points.
"Good point." I tell her. I hear her giggling as we continue running through the shadowy forest, with small beams of light able to get through gaps in the leaves.
As we continue running closer and closer to the portal, the forest thins quite significantly, so it's not as difficult to traverse anymore. We don't have to dodge as many roots or find a way around impassable barriers in our path. The sun is able to shine on the forest ground more, lighting up our path more brightly.
It seems like Nia's irritation at the increase in light is so strong I can even feel it! She prefers the dark, and loves waking up early in the morning, even before the sun rises. I, however, am normal and like staying up late and sleeping in, rather than waking up when it's still pitch black outside. But, I love Nia's weirdness. It makes her unique, and I wouldn't change anything about her.
After a few hours, Nia suddenly stops running. I look in her line of vision and immediately see why. Between two trees, there is a wall of moving white light that is obviously the portal. But, standing in front of it and blocking our path, is Nia's uncle.
Alaric.
Nia immediately starts growling at Alaric, who roars powerfully in anger at her. He shouts,
"Don't you dare growl at me! You may think you're strong, that you're some big shot for being able to run away from me. But I am the better fighter, and can pin you in that form in my human skin as well as I could in a cat skin."
Shockingly, Nia shifts back into her human skin in anger and starts arguing with her uncle. I immediately look away from Nia, staring up at the sky as I listen to their conversation. The urge to look is strong, but I ignore it. That isn't me. If I am ever going to see Nia naked, it's not going to be like this.
"How dare you try to discreetly threaten me and make me go back with you? How dare you try to take me from Saber and stop me from finding my twin sister? What is wrong with you, what is a good reason for doing these things? Don't say any crap about protection, because you know how dumb of an excuse that is as much as I do. Don't even try it!" Nia hollers back.
I can sense her anger, and it takes a lot of willpower not to growl with the immense strength of it combined with my own. Nia's aunt and uncle, along with my parents, wanted to keep us apart for no real reason. Both Nia and I have been trained in physical combat - in various cat forms and human form - and know how to take care of ourselves. They're just scared and being dumb because of it.
