Nia's POV
I hope Ivy is taking all of this well. She's smiling and talking, but I'm sure this can't be easy to take in. Maybe Marie will be able to give me some advice on how I can help Ivy.
"Saber, why don't you shift back so you can join in the conversation?" I suggest to him. I want to talk to Marie alone.
"Sure, good idea. Have fun talking with Marie." He replies, striding off with the backpack in his jaws, looking annoyed. I sigh and walk to the door I have seen Marie go through, knocking on it softly. It opens soon after that to reveal Marie smiling at me as she ushers me in. We sit down at a small wooden table in the middle of the room, which has full bookshelves lining the walls. Still smiling, Marie asks,
"What's on your mind?"
"I wanted to ask if you had any advice for how I can help this transition be easier for Ivy. She's new to this world, and it can't be easy for her." I answer, trying to focus wholly on the conversation. However, it's not working. My mind keeps going to Saber.
"Your mind is on Saber, isn't it?" Marie questions, her smile growing wider knowingly. I stare at her, shocked. How could she tell?
"How did you know?" I ask her, in utter surprise.
"I can just tell, young love is so easy to spot." She tells me, causing a heavy blush to come to my cheeks.
"Do you know anything about our connection?"
"Yes, I do actually. Your parents have a connection, and since I was her best friend, I learned a lot about it," Marie starts to explain, grabbing my attention right away, "Connection mates can do many things together. For example, they can talk through their minds, feel each other's emotions, know where each other are, and read each other's thoughts."
Saber and I can do those things. He must have read my mind, and knew I wanted to speak to Marie alone. I need to talk to him.
"But, your powers can develop. At one point, as your connection grows, you'll be able to enter each other's dreams, teleport to each other, and even use each other's senses, basically seeing what the other is seeing, hearing what the other is hearing, and so on.
"However, doing these things is very draining. Also, with the connection, you become deeply connected to your connection mate, and that connection only becomes stronger. This makes it very difficult to be away from them for long periods of time, or being physical with another person."
"Thanks Marie, but I gotta go!" I tell her, jumping up out of the chair and racing out of the room to find Saber. I need to see him. I am too restless, I can't handle the thought that he's angry with me.
Saber's POV
Instead of joining the conversation after shifting and putting clothes on, I go through the other door leading off of the living room to see where it leads. I discover that it opens up to a huge kitchen with a massive oak wood table in the middle of it. The floor is white tile and all the cabinets are oak wood, with marble counters and white kitchen appliances.
On the opposite wall, I see another door leading out of the kitchen and decide to go through it. When I open it, I am hit with a torrent of scents from the surrounding forest. It's a back door. I step out, closing my eyes as I breathe in the forest air and grin. It reminds me of home.
