After that night, we we're offered to stay another night in the guest bedroom. We happily acceted and after some discussion on the couch, went upstairs to get some sleep. As I followed behind Tobias, I couldnt help but think of Peter.
Just a few short months ago, he'd almost been killed by Tobias. I wasnt sure how he managed to survive, but he did, and now walks with a pronounced limp. Theres no way he could've escaeped those muttations.
Cato had explained to us earlier about the muttations. Their ruler; President Snow, wanted Panem to rule over all. So he sent muttations to The factions, by the thousands. I'm not sure how many escaped and I'm not sure I want to, because i'm positive it would be a low number. I thought of all my friends back at dauntless. By now they were probably living like factionless as Tobias and I eat like kings.
Before I knew it I was laying down beside Four, not noticing the long sigh extracting itself from my mouth. "Tris?" Tobias asked gently, peeling off his shirt and lying beside me before pulling my body against his warm chest.
"Hmm?" I answered, glancing up at him, and dwelling my fingertips gently over the inked skin. "Something wrong?" I shrugged it off and closed my eyes. "Nah..I'm fine." I said before a yawn. Tobias rolled his eyes but left it alone, pulling the comforter over us and holding me tightly in his arms.
After a long silence as we both lay still, Tobias spoke. "Hey Tris? How about-....How about we go get citizenship here...." I furrowed my eyebrows, but gave a tired nod. "Uhm...yeah I guess.." I muttered, half asleep.
"I'm serious...We can start over. Just me and you." He said and I could practically feel the smile tugging on his lips."Alright." I whispered back to him, and felt Tobias tilt my chin up, and kiss my tired lips. "I love you." I whispered to him, and he pulled back slightly, resting his forehead against mine. "Love you too."
I fell to sleep, dreaming vividly of muttations, with their beady eyes, and tensed hackles. Running, scowling, and attacking. Drool dripped from their fangs, and I woke to the gentle nudge of Tobias in the pitch black room. He was holding me tightly, his muscles tense "Tris..."
I take in a breath. "I'm alright." I reassure him, but it doesnt do much to calm him. Tobias just nodded slowly and layed back down to his original position before he woke me, and rubbed his palm soothingly along my back. "I won't let anything happen to you." He whispered sleepily.
When I opened my eyes again, it was morning. Sunlight fell in rivits over the room, reflecting off the white comforter. I reached out to the side expectantly, but found only vacancy, as Tobias was not beside me. I sighed and slid out of bed, stumbling downstairs, hoping to find him.
"Four?" I called as I walked into the livingroom. "What?" He asked back. I found him laying flat on his back, peering up at my from the couch, his hands behind his head. I nodded to Cato and Clove who were on the other couch, and walked over, swinging a leg over him and sitting on his hips. "Morning." He smiled sleepily at me and I lowered my upper half down to press against his, putting my head on his shoulder. "Morning." I murmered back and felt his hand rest on my back.
"So...I figured we'd go down to the justice building, and get you two some citizenship here eh?" Cato said, and I assumed Tobias had mentioned something. "Sounds good." Four hummed. "What time?"
~~~Le Small Time Skip~~~
I shivered as we stepped out into the cold air. Walking back down from the steps of the Justice Building; Tobias and I were now official citizens of District 2.
