Last chapter! Hope you enjoy!

Dan and Kayla woke up several days later in a hospital, beds side by side. The police had caught one of Falcon's men and he'd spilled it all. Everything that'd happened and where. There injuries weren't fatal at all and only Dan had pushed himself too hard and needed a cast a little while longer than Kayla. He decided not to tell Kayla what Falcon had done to find out where she was. He thought she didn't need the worry, he wanted her to be happy.

Five weeks passed, Dan and Kayla got a lot more attention than they thought they'd get. Being the people to be kidnapped and take down one of the few feared criminal organisations was a pretty big deal. All day they had to answer questions and tell stories about it. Around lunch time, May and Jared were able to hide them in the changing room. There weren't any sport clubs happening on that day so there was a very small chance of people being there. The five friends, Dan, Kayla, Jared, Eden and May all sat in the changing rooms together.

"So, how's the arm?" May asked, poking Dan's cast curiously.
"Shoulder. But, it's fine...bullets don't hurt as much as I thought they did." He replied, wincing a little from each poke.
"As much?!" Exclaimed Kayla suddenly, "excuse me, Eye Freak, I don't have superpowers like you!"
"I wouldn't call them superpowers..." Dan chuckled.
"What would you call them?" Said Eden, "if you think about it, they are kind of superpowers!"
"Well, I don't know what to call it..."

Kayla looked down, remembering what Falcon said about Dan's eye 'curse'. To stop herself from crying, she leant onto his shoulder and smiled warmly. The group looked at each other grinning as Dan looked at her smiling back the same way.

Dan skipped last lesson. He hadn't lay in his 'spot' for a while. He skipped to his spot and lay, staring up at the clouds. To his surprise, Kayla came looking for him and lay next to him, "so, what now?" She said, sighing
"Now?" Dan replied but kept his eyes on the clouds.
"You can't deny what would've happened if we weren't taken then..."
Dan knew she was referring to the interrupted kiss, "I don't know..."
"My word, sometimes you're so useless it makes me fall for you more." She looked away to hide her face from him.
"Is that a confession?"

They both lay in silence, Kayla looking away from him and Dan looking up to the clouds. Finally, Dan spoke, "hey, Kay."
"Yeah, Dan?"
"Doesn't that cloud look like mistletoe?" He gave her a cheeky smirk as they looked at each other.
Kayla glared and giggled, "isn't mistletoe a Christmas tradition?" She grinned playfully.
"Well played, but the look in your eyes doesn't agree with what you said though, does it?"
Kayla went ruby red and looked away in a huff. Dan looked back at the clouds, trying to think of another smooth sentence to say. After a few seconds, Kayla leant over and kissed him softly on the cheek, "you had me with that, Eye Freak...try not to let go..."
"I was never good at sharing." He grinned again.

Kayla giggled and smiled sweetly at him, "you are one of a kind, Dan. Truly. One of a kind..."

The End!
