"Are you sure you have everything? I feel like we're forgetting things," Lily worried as she scanned the Jeep, which was packed full of bags and boxes.

"I think we over packed," Stiles chuckled as he tossed his pillow into the otherwise empty passenger seat and circled back around. "Are you sure you don't want to ride with me? You kind of look like you want to."

"Stiles, look at your Jeep," she laughed. "Your dad is barely going to fit in there. We can't fit three people."

"I guess not," he agreed and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

He stood side by side with her as they surveyed the Jeep, letting silence hang between them.

She wasn't content to keep that up for long. "I'm really proud of you, you know," she told him, her voice much quieter than before. "I'm a little pissed that you're all leaving me here to deal with the mess that is Beacon Hills, but I'm glad you're doing this."

He laughed, their proximity causing the vibrations of it to roll through her. He squeezed her shoulders and bent over to kiss the top of her head before he relaxed his grip again.

"Yeah, sorry about that. It makes me feel better, having you here, though. Nice to know there will be someone to take care of dad. Just make sure he gets a hot meal once in a while?"

"Oh, please. You think I'm going to go back to cooking for one? He's going to weigh three hundred pounds by the time you come home for Thanksgiving," she smirked up at him.

"Okay, maybe don't feed him that much," he snorted and glanced down at her. "You do know you're a witch, right? If you really get that lonely, you can come visit. I can use my pre-FBI sway to sneak you into all the government buildings, and we can go to all the Smithsonians. There's a ton of them, so you're going to have to visit a lot."

"I'm sure I can convince the boss to give me a few weekend shifts off."

"I wouldn't count on that until you ask the boss," Sheriff cut in with a grin as he walked past them with the last, small box. "Stiles, where do you want this one?"

"Uh..." Stiles glanced back to the Jeep and grimaced. "You want to keep holding it?"

"No but it looks like I'm going to keep holding it," Sheriff mused. "We probably need to get out of here, kid."

"Yeah, I'll be right there," he assured and waited for his dad to climb into the passenger seat before he turned to Lily. "So..."

"So," she echoed and angled toward him. "Call me as soon as you get there. I want to know all about your dorm and school, and if your new roommate is as cuddly as I am."

He laughed again and hooked his fingers under her chin, tilting her head up. Compelled toward one another, they closed the gap between them at the same time and brushed their lips together. They moved slowly, savoring every detail they could commit to memory in their last few moments together before Stiles moved across the country. It didn't take long for either of them to lose their breath, and they broke the kiss at the same time in favor of a tight embrace.

"Definitely won't be doing that with my new roommate," he whispered.

"You'd better not," she grinned back. "Go on, then. Don't forget to call," she warned again before dropping her arms to her sides.

"Yeah, I will," he assured and took a few steps backwards toward the Jeep. "See you soon, okay? Love you!"

She gave a tight-lipped smile and nodded as he spun toward his vehicle and hopped into the driver's seat. He turned the key in the ignition, and she listened to the engine turn over a few times before it roared to life. The Jeep rolled forward down the street, and once Stiles had pulled completely onto it, he stuck his arm out the window and waved.

She gave a small wave in return, tears blurring her vision as the Jeep turned the corner at the end of the block and disappeared.

"See you soon," she murmured before Apparating back to her apartment.
