In the van was three rows of seats. Argus sat alone in the front, Robyn sat in one of the two seats on the second row, and me and Percy sat next to each other in the back. The trip to Manhattan was around one and a half hours so we had plenty of time to talk. In that time I noticed Robyn continuously fiddle with a bracelet that I had never seen her with before, she already had her Camp Half-Blood beads wrapped around her wrist. Robyn explained that the beads we're given to each camper every year and illustrated on the bead was the biggest event that happened in the year. She said that she wrapped her necklace around her wrist as it eliminated tactical advantages for the enemy.
The second bracelet was overloading my curiosity and I couldn't help it when I blurted out "When did you get the bracelet?"
This seemed to catch Robyn off guard and her eyes widened "It, uh... it was a present from Summer. She... uh, gave it to me before we left." She removed her hand from over the bracelet to let me see it properly.
The bracelet was made out of two strips of black leather which was connected by a layer of silver metal, where the clasp was also attached. On one of the leather strips was a stormy blue topaz the size of a one cent coin, on the other strip was the exact same besides the type of gem was citrine.
"She got one as well. It's supposedly that I'm the blue and and she's the orange one." Robyn said while gazing at the jewelry.
"It's beautiful," I said "The jewellery as well as the thought."
Robyn did something I'd never thought she'd do, and smiled at me. She had a beautiful smile. I was taken aback for a second, but returned the smile.
It was quiet again for a few minutes and I nibbled on some ambrosia before Robyn broke the silence "So Ellen, I don't think we actually know your story of how you got to camp."
I stopped looking through the window and turned to look at her and saw Percy staring at me, eager to hear the story.
"Well... uh, it started when I was on a trip to the woods with school and then a pack of wolves or... hellhounds I think you call them...?" I asked and Robyn nodded, "But yeah, a bunch of hellhounds showed up and then the Huntresses came and killed them but I blacked out. I woke up in a tent in the Huntresses camp but they were under attack by a few snake ladies-"
"Dracanae." Robyn interrupted.
"They were under attack by a few dracanae and the Minotaur-" I was yet again interrupted.
"The Minotaur!?" Percy exclaimed, "I only killed that thing a few days before you arrived!"
"Well, I killed it again," I continued, "Then Artemis told me to come into her tent and then she explained that she was my mom, why she wasn't there when I was younger, my powers and my pu-" I cut myself off and my eyes widened with and coughed to try cover the fact I was hiding something, though I still got puzzled looks from the two, "And then Nathan and I walked to camp. Yeah, that's about it."
"Nice." Robyn said.
I soon returned my gaze to Robyn "What about you? What's your story?"
Robyn lowered her head and held her hands in her lap. She began talking "When I was nine I ran away from home. Thanks to earlier experiences I learned how to fight. I was on the run and alone for six months and during that time I got attacked by a hellhound," She stifled a laughed and pointed to the three vertical scars on the left side of her chin "That's how I got these bad boys."
She paused for a few minutes and I felt the van bump over something on the road. I looked out of the window and saw the Manhattan skyline getting closer every second.
