In the day, the world is bright and colorful but at night it turns dark. The light of day gives warmth and security but once the sun starts setting, running is the only option. People fear the dark. It is widely known that all bad things lie in the dark. All of the wicked, scary, and unknown stay hidden in the shadows that the darkness provides. Not many dare venture during the night due to all the rumors and superstitions, but those who do never come back.
Many would say that I am crazy for being out during the night but I think it is quit nice. The moon shines brightly through the night. It casts such a glow that a lantern is not needed. Yes, I will admit that I am actually quite frightened of the unknown and that from time to time I feel like somebody's watching me or that I am not alone, but aside from that I love the night. The quiet is so much better than the noisy streets during the day. No people bump into you and no one bothers you. It is perfect for me.
As I walk through the streets I hear soft foot steps around the corner. I did not want to get in trouble or be seen by anyone so I quickly and quietly hid behind some garbage bins that were conveniently there. I waited patiently for the person to pass so I could be on my way. I had a good vantage point from where I was so I could see whoever was going to pass but after some minutes nobody passed by. It was strange that all of a sudden the footsteps had vanished, but as a precaution I still stayed in my position for a good five minutes. They had probably decided on a different direction or something so with that in mind I stood up and came face to face with a grotesque looking creature. Its eyes were wide open and were staring directly at me. He looked like a normal human being from the body, with an expensive looking suit and a grey coat on, but the face was not human. Its eyes were completely black, as if they had been burned, and once it saw that it had startled me he grinned wide and big, showing two rows of unnaturally sharp teeth, almost like a shark.
His hand had started to reach towards me but I couldn't move. I was paralyzed and didn't know what was happening. Even if I tried to move my body wouldn't respond to any commands to run or scream. I was just helplessly watching as that thing opened its mouth ready to devour and kill me. He grabbed my shoulder and.....
I woke up with a start. It was just a bad dream again and lately they had been happening more often and all with different scenarios of me dying by something supernatural. The nightmares just keep getting worse. When will they stop?
