As a scientist, looking at weird stuff is very common, but I would have never imagined that I would witness such a creature and much less in this time and age. We are is the year 2117 and many things have changed in the past century. Miraculously, technology has not taken over the world, nor has the world ended yet. Another thing that has changed is that people finally take care of the planet. The earth is cleaner, including the oceans, and things haven't looked better for humanity. Treaties have been signed making sure that the countries behave and work together for the better of mankind rather than their egos. If things hadn't changed we wouldn't have lived to this day, or at least not in a peaceful way.

Anyway, changing the topic, I am doctor Loveday Crowsforth; a scientist. My research team and I have recently found a very peculiar looking bug inside our own laboratory. It's very odd to have found a bug and much less one that has never been discovered before. A trap if you ask me but it's also an opportunity to show the world something new. Even though there are still a lot of wonders that have been yet to be discovered, they are very hard to find or reach. This tiny insect had the body of a bee and the wings of a small monarch butterfly. The body was entirely translucent in contrast to the color changing wings, it gave of the effect of hypnosis. It made us think that it hypnotised its predators and then fled, which would have been a valid hypothesis if we hadn't been so naive.

Since this one of a kind specimen was special, we put it inside a glass cage especifically made for butterflies. Some plants were also put inside to make it seem more natural looking. Three days passed and we thought that it would die since we didn't know what necessities it needed. It looked as healthy as the first day we had put it for observation, the only thing we did noticed was the tiny little circular looking excrement, or at least that's what we thought they were.

A week passed, two months, half a year and the excrement kept getting bigger and more started appearing. They started resembling small robbin eggs but instead of blue they were splattered with different shades of brown. On the seventh month, the eggs started cracking. We were all excited to see that a new whole insect species had been born and all by itself. No matter how many research and data we had gathered through the course of the observation it still didn't answer the questions we had.

The first one came out and we were all holding our breaths in anticipation for the events that would unfold. One by one the little butterfly creatures started hatching but as they hatched they started hitting against the glass. We didn't think much of it because they looked so harmless and we thought it was probably the effect of being born inside such a confined space. But soon cracks started appearing and that's when we finally realized something was wrong, something was terribly wrong. Just as the cage shattered we ran for our lives our the door of the laboratory and closed it shut. Some of the creatures had latched onto our cloths and as soon as we realized that we swatted them away. They had already started to suck our blood like mosquitoes when we realized we had made a terrible mistake. We had just nurtured our doom.
