"Lose what?" My mom was eavesdropping on me.
"Ummm something........ LIFE I'm gonna lose on LIFE!" Hey I gotta come up with a good excuse and that was the only one I could think of.
"Is it the new school?" She asks.
I nod my head. There's already drama happening in two days. I rather just jump on a cliff or run to my old school. Anyways, I look at my mom. She takes a deep breath and sighs.
"Look Sarah. It's only your second day. If you want to have more friends there's only two things to do."
"What?"
"Just be confident and be yourself. Oh yeah, and you should actually TALK to people."
I smiled. I don't know if that would work. I just need help from someone around my age. Or..... take mom's advice. I don't know.
The next day, I wear my favorite outfit smiling to school. Then Eric comes up to me and waves.
"Hey, you look nice." He says.
"Do I? It must be Opposite Day!"
He laughs. "No really. Sooooo I heard."
"What did you hear?"
"You.... pranked ..... Natalie?"
We stopped walking. I bit my lip to see his reaction. I mean they're both friends...... so he'll be mad at me right?
"It was HILARIOUS!!!!!!! You must have a lot of guts to do that!!!" He laughs
He's happy? Oh good. Phew. We both start talking about other things and he starts making puns about Natalie.
"Why did Natalie go to the washroom?"
"Why?"
"To eat some poo-ding!" He literally cracks up on that joke. Natalie gives us a dirty look.
"Hey, noobie! I heard u eat poo-ding!" She yells
Everyone stares at me. Eric slowly walks away as if he's not the noobie. Nice friend. Everyone starts laughing. My face looks neutral but I'm scared.
Should I just give up?
