AN: Hey guys! This isn't the most likable chapter in the book... if you want to proceed reading, by all means do so, but it will have a lot of gruesome accounts of Eragons and Ayras lives so don't expect a riding off into the sunset type ending....... well not until the end of the book ;)... mawahahahahahahhaha!!!
Chapter 17: Plunge Into Chaos
Inside her mind it was black. None of the joy or color that Eragon had come to know and love about her. And then the pain hit. It was so terrible so much it was almost to much to bear. What he saw he did not like. He saw her, in her cell and Duza and... And... And no. He could not look at that. He had to forge on and look for... No stay on tasss...... That was it. he saw his home, Garrow lying dead, then, then, a new memory surfaced from somewhere hidden deep within himself, he saw a women giving him to his aunt, his mom! He saw his mom! That was the women... But why wouldn't show him a good thing, then he could hear what his mom was saying. "- Just take him, I don't want him, or anything to do with him." And that was it. All he wanted to do is go and cry now. His own mom didn't want him. And then he saw a flicker of color, the only thing to pierce the darkness and he moved to it. When he got there he surrounded it as best he could, and pushed out ward on the darkness. He saw Durza again, not only torchering her, but raping, and taking a knife to her wrists. And then another vision appeared, and at first, he did not recognize it. Then he heard the words, and knew what he was seeing in the past. It was the time he and Arya had run through the Empire, and it was just after they had killed the soldiers. It was the time she had given him that uncertain smile, it was the time that he knew, deep down, when Arya first truly realized that her feelings were as deep as his. That was why he asked twice if she had feelings for him, and it was the second time he knew, and she truly knew, that she lied. Why would she feel... Oh. He knew that she had loved Folian, and, when he died, it did irreparable damage to her, and know, here was another Folain, another one she loved, only to die. And so, unable to bear anymore past pains, or future fears, he formed Brisingr mentally, set it ablaze, and hacked and slashed at the darkness like it was an imperial solider. Then, with one final heave chopped it down and set it on fire, incinerating it. He withdrew from her mind, and instantly collapsed.

He woke with a strange warm lump on his chest with wetness around it. For a terrible moment, he thought he had peed his pants. Then he realized it must be tears that had caused the dampness. After his vision cleared, he realized the lump must be a head. And judging from the long, black, glossy hair and the sent of pine trees only found in DuWeldenvarden, he guessed the head must be Ayra's. Since he knew she only slept when she wanted, or when pure exhaustion overtook her, he decided to wait to rouse her. It was early dawn when he awoke and Arya was already making a small breakfast for herself. She did not notice his waking, so, quiet as a whisper, he crept out of bed, up behind her and said " Isn't the host supposed to prepare the meal at his own home?" By then she had already whirled around, grabbed a knife and put it to his throat. The knife quivered in her hand and drooped to the floor. Then she did something he didn't expect: she slapped him in the face. Then she did something he did expect: she kissed him.
