Charlotte's POV

"What?" I asked dropping my fork in shock.

"I said you should invite Michael over for dinner on Friday," My mom said casually.

"Are you serious?" I gasped, Sam looking at my mom with wide eyes.

"Claire, are you serious?" Sam asked my mom.

"Yes! Invite him over, I'd love to meet the boy you're spending so much time with," My mom said standing up to wash the dishes.

"Are you sure you want to invite him over?" I asked helping her wash the dishes.

"Yes of course, sweetheart," My mom said.

"Uh okay then I'll tell him on Thursday," I said nervously, walking back upstairs to my room.

 *Friday*

"I thought they didn't like me," Michael said.

"Me too, but my mom really wants to meet you," I sighed putting my books into my locker and closing it.

"Okay, well then I'd love to come over on Friday," Michael smiled.

"Really?" I asked. "You do know who my mom is, right?"

"Yes and yes, but it's best for them to meet me now so they won't hate me every time we're together," Michael said.

"Then I guess I'll see you after school?" I asked.

"Sure, I'll be at your place around 5?" Michael asked.

"Sounds good, bye," I said heading off to my first class.

"Did I hear that right?" Luke asked catching up to me. "Your mom invited Michael over for dinner?"

"Yeah," I said.

"Why?"

"She wants to meet him."

"Are you sure? Cause your mom doesn't just do that, especially with guys you aren't officially dating yet."

"I know I know, but it's happening and I was wondering if you could stay home tonight so I can call you over if there's any problems?" I suggested.

"Well, I was going to see a movie with Ashton and Calum, but I guess we could stay at my house," Luke shrugged.

"Thanks Luke!" I grinned hugging him. "See ya later!"

"Charlotte!" My mom yelled from the kitchen. "Come help me cook!"

"Hold on! Let me get changed!" I yelled back. I finished my makeup and put my hair into a loose side braid before putting on a green shirt-like hoodie and a pair of high waisted jean shorts.

"Hey Sam can you put this on the dinner table?" I asked handing him a pot of soup.

"Sure," Sam said grabbing the pot. "So when's Michael coming?"

"Soon,"I said following him into the dinner table with the bowls and spoons. Right as I set down the utensils, the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it!" I yelled running towards the door, my mom following.

"Hi Michael," I grinned opening the door for him to come in.

"Hi Char," Michael returned the grin and stepped inside. "Hello Mrs. Monroe you look lovely tonight."

"Thank you Michael," My mom replied with a smile. "Well come on, dinner's ready." My mom led us to the dining room where Sam was dishing the soup out into each of the bowls.

"Hello you must be Michael," Sam greeted Michael by shaking his hand. "I'm Sam, Claire's boyfriend."

"Nice to meet you," Michael said politely.

"So Michael, how did you and Charlotte meet?" My mom asked sitting down.

"We met at one of my band practices, Luke brought her," Michael said.

"When did you start liking her?" My mom asked casuing me to choke on my soup.

"Mom!" I hissed at her.

"Actually I started liking Char when we first met," Michael admitted.

"You what?" I asked.

"It's true," Michael blushed.

"If you liked her why didn't you ask her out back then?" My mom interrogated.

"Well I thought she was dating Luke," Michael said.

Why did everyone think we were dating?

"Hey well you're not the first one to think they were dating," Sam chuckled.

"Michael, how many girlfriends have you had?" My mom continued, I shot her a death glare trying to get her to stop talking.

"Just one actually," Michael said.

"Oh really?" My mom actually started to look interested. "How long did the two of you date?"

"Mom!" I groaned.

"It's fine, Char," Michael smiled. "Two years."

"Wow you must've really liked her," My mom said.

"Yeah I did, but she dumped me for someone else," Michael said.

"Oh, why did she leave you?" My mom asked, still being nosy.

"She met someone better in America, so she moved there to be with him," Michael said, uncomfortably shifting in his seat.

"Um I'm going to go wash the dishes," I said trying to change the subject. "Michael, can you help?"

"Yeah sure," Michael said giving me a thankful look as he grabbed a couple bowls and followed me into the kitchen.

"I'm so sorry," I apologized to Michael when we were alone in the kitchen. "I didn't know she was going to ask those questions."

"It's fine," Michael said drying off the bowl I handed him.

"No it's not, my mom doesn't understand what being nosy is," I sighed.

"Really, Char, I don't mind," Michael said.

"She shouldn't have asked about your ex," I said.

"Don't worry I'm completely over her," Michael said.

"You don't have to be so sweet about this," I said walking over to Michael.

"I know, but I want to make a good impression," Michael smiled leaning down to place a soft kiss on my lips.

"Are you kids ready for dessert?" Sam asked walking into the kitchen to grab the pie.

"Yup," I said grinning at Sam and holding Michael's hand while leading him out to the dining room.
