Chapter 10: Summertime Sadness

Charlotte's POV

Over the month. I had been seeing Jason a lot and I think we've built up a really good relationship, considering we are siblings. It was nice to have someone to talk to and hang out with that was related to me. Almost every oter day we'd meet at his flat to talk and joke around.

"Char, I have something to tell you," Michael said quietly, breaking me away from my thoughts . "Please don't get mad."

"I won't, just tell me," I said.

"Okay, well Lea isn't mine...but she's also not my cousin's, she's Jules'," Michael said.

"Jules your ex?" I asked.

"Yeah..her boyfriend got her pregnant, now he won't even talk to Jules. I'm only helping out by watching Lea over the weekends," Michael explained.

"Okay," I nodded.

"So you're okay with it, right?" Michael asked.

"Yes it's fine," I said kissing him.

"Great!" Michael grinned. "See you at school tomorrow, babe!"

Michael stood up and waved goodbye before leaving my house.

I felt bad. Real bad. I never felt any sparks with Michael anymore. I was starting to develop feelings for someone I seriously couldn't like.....

Luke

I couldn't get myself to push the feelings aside and I'd been avoiding him so my feelings wouldn't grow, but the more time I spent apart from him just made me like him more. I kept scolding myself for letting me fall for my best friend that could never like me back since he'd friend-zoned me.

*Next day (aka last day of school)*

"Char....we have bad and good news," Calum said when I met Luke at our usual spot to walk home.

"Well start with the good because today is a good day," I said smiling at the boys.

"5 Seconds of Summer is going on tour with One Direction!" Ashton grinned.

"That's amazing news!" I cheered hugging all the boys in a big group hug.

"But Char, that means we have to leave Australia for the tour and we won't see you as much," Luke frowned.

"Oh."

"Sorry Char," Michael said.

"We have to go pack, but we'll see you tomorrow before we leave, okay?" Calum asked.

"Yeah, okay," I agreed hugging them goodbye. "Wait, Michael can I talk to you?"

"Sure," Michael said, staying behind as the other boys headed back home.

"You don't really think this whole long-distance relationship thing worked...do you?" I asked.

"Honestly, no," Michael sighed. "I'm sorry Char."

"So are we..over?" I asked.

"I guess so..." Michael said. "No hard feelings?"

I nodded and hugged Michael one last time before letting him leave. "Michael!" I yelled to him. "We're still friends right?" I asked.

"Of course!" Michael yelled back grinning.

"Luke, what the hell do I do without you next door all the time?" I asked flopping onto his bed as he packed.

"Don't worry Char, we'll FaceTime you everyday and call and text all the time," Luke assured me. "Plus we'll visit you when we're in Australia and we will even send you tickets to come see one of our shows in America or UK."

"Okay," I nodded. "Do you want me to drive you and the boys to the airport tomorrow?"

"We're taking a cab but I'd like you to come over before I leave, so you can properly say goodbye to all of us," Luke smiled.

"Okay, when do you guys have to leave for the airport?" I asked.

"At six, could you come over around five-thirty?" Luke asked. "That's when the boys are coming."

"Sure, I'll see you then Luke," I said giving him a hug. "Bye."

"Sweetie what are you doing awake?" My mom asked me when I came downstairs in the morning. Every time I was around her I felt bad for lying to her about meeting Jason since she had no idea.

"Luke, Ashton, Michael and Calum are going on tour with One Direction, so I'm going to go say goodbye," I choked out.

"Oh yeah, Liz told me about that," my mom said softly.

"Mom, I don't want them to leave," I said, a tear escaping my eye.

"I know honey, I know," My mom soothed rubbing my back as I sat in her lap crying.

"Now go say goodbye before they leave," My mom said wiping away my tears.

I nodded then ran back upstairs to get dressed. I put on a hoodie and some jeans before running out the door quickly as I saw the boys begin to get into the cab. Ashton was about to get into the cab but I ran as fast as I could and tackled him with a hug.

"Hey babe, we were scared you bailed on us," Ashton smiled returning the hug.

"I don't want you guys to go," I said, tears forming again.

"I know you don't, but it's a once in a lifetime chance," Ashton said rubbing my back to calm me down.

"Don't have too much fun without me," I smiled weakly.

"We won't," Ashton laughed. "We'll see you soon, okay? I'll make sure we all call you when our plane lands also."

"Okay," I said hugging him tighter.

"Don't cry babe, it'll be okay," Ashton said.

"Char?" A voice asked from behind me.

"Calum!" I said leaving Ashton's hug and running into Calum's arms.

"Hey Char," Calum chuckled hugging me back.

"I'm going to miss you," I said burying my face in his sweater.

"I'm going to miss you more," Calum said.

"Boys! Come on we have to go!" Michael yelled.

"I'll talk to you soon Char, bye," Calum said giving me a quick squeeze before putting his bags into the trunk.

"I'll miss you Michael," I said hugging Michael.

"I'll miss you too," Michael said. "Talk to you later Char, bye."

"Luke!" I yelled attacking him in the tightest embrace, making him drop his bags.

"Char, I thought you might have decided to sleep in instead of coming to see us," Luke said wrapping his arms around me.

"I couldn't miss seeing you go off to live your dream," I sniffed.

"Don't cry Char," Luke comforted me. "I'll see you soon."

"Okay, bye Luke," I wiped my eyes. "Have fun."

Luke smiled and nodded before putting his bags in the trunk of the taxi. "We'll FaceTime you when we get to London!" Luke yelled as the taxi drove off towards the airport.
