~The night is darkest just before the dawn. And I promise you, the dawn is coming~

Unknown Pov~

Walking through the puddles, I winced at the muddy splashes staining my pants. The distant thumping of music reverberating off the building's walls confirmed that I had found the right place. I couldn't believe I had actually heeded this man's call and ventured into his territory. As I approached the back of the building, I spotted two men in suits, their concealed weapons ready to be drawn at a moment's notice. I let out a frustrated sigh and tugged my black hat down lower, straightening my posture.

Standing tall in front of the two men, dwarfed by their imposing presence, they recognized my face and gave a nod of acknowledgment. It seemed they had been expecting my arrival. One of them opened the doors, gesturing for me to follow him as we ventured inside and down a separate hallway. As I glanced at the lively club scene around me, I couldn't help but shake my head, reminiscing about my days of wild and reckless freedom, when I would spend my nights with a different woman every time.

"Boss is inside. You may go in," the man said with a grim expression. I nodded in acknowledgment, dismissing him as I entered the room.

"Ah, my old friend," he greeted me with a smile, but I could see the sinister undertone lurking behind it, triggering unsettling flashbacks.

Forcing a fake smile, I shook his hand, our eyes never breaking contact. "I don't have much time. What is it you wanted to discuss?" I inquired, taking a seat in the red chair positioned across from his desk.

I kept a watchful eye on him as he moved towards a small desk, pouring two drinks. "Please, you know I'm a sucker for hospitality," he remarked with smugness, handing me one of the glasses. I accepted it but couldn't hide my annoyance, exhaling audibly.

"Now, I believe you've upheld your end of this bargain," he noted, settling behind his desk.

"Of course. It's all set. They're just waiting for my command. How about you? Have you managed to speak with him yet?" I asked.

"No, not yet. They're always together; it's impossible to catch him alone. But I'll get it done, don't worry about me," he replied, determination gleaming in his eyes.

"You'd better, old friend, or we'll be dealing with a serious mess. I must leave; I've already stayed too long. Call me when it's done," I said, placing the glass on his desk.

I put my hat back on and headed for the door. "Adriano is no fool. He'll smell us from a mile away, probably more," he called out.

I turned around, meeting his gaze head-on. "Oh, come on now, are you scared? He is your offspring, after all," I retorted before exiting the room and leaving the club. My guards were waiting for me by the car.

"Boss, we were about to come get you," one of them said.

"No need. Let's just get out of here. Now!" I instructed, urgency in my voice.

A week had passed since that unforgettable night when Adriano and I had first made love, but it certainly didn't mean we hadn't repeated the experience. I still got goosebumps just thinking about it.

"Your face is really red," a voice suddenly snapped me out of my thoughts. I gasped in surprise, dropping the book I had been pretending to read more than actually reading it.
