I have to admit, the library was pretty neat. But I wasn't here for sightseeing. I had a mission. A pretty small one, but it meant everything to me. Why had he left? There had to be a reason. "Come on Jason. She's just another half breed. There is nothing special about her. Let's just leave her to read. She'll settle in soon enough" Cassity whispered from the next book isle. What? They were going to leave me! I jumped up and grabbed the books I was reading. Then I ran around the corner and halted right in front of Jason and Cassity. "I'm ready to go!" I chirped happily. Cassity glanced at the books I was carrying. I shuffled them so the titles were facing me. Cassity frowned. What did I do to deserve her hate? I would really like to be her friend. And Jason's. I hope she mind read that. "Let's go." Cassity said. "We'll take you to the pool."

The pool was awesome. It did have a massive waterside, which I just had to go on as soon as I was changed into my nonexistent swimmers. If only I had the power to summon money, that would be awesome. Then I could buy myself a nice pair of swimmers. I'd get purple ones. Ranting. Again. I sighed. Then I looked up at the diving boards that were towering overhead. A thin girl, well what looked like a girl from this distance, leapt from the second highest one. It was like watching a snowflake, a snowflake that was falling very fast. She twirled and spun before finally diving into the pool and she barely made a splash. It was amazing to watch. I wanted a go. "I want to do that." I told Jason and Cassity. Jason looked startled. "Sure. You can do that all you want, if your power is water based." He said. "How am I supposed to know if I have water based powers?" I asked him. Well and I guess Cassity too. I still wanted us to be friends. "You mean you don't know yet?" he asked. "Uh. No. Could we go and test me or something? Cause I really want to do that" I said eagerly. "You could be a water type." Cassity said doubtfully. "Not many people are so eager to jump from two-hundred meters into a pool." "I can't believe you don't know yet." Jason muttered angrily. "What were they teaching you in your world? How to make as much noise as possible when running away?" This time he snapped. "Well?" "I-I don't know. I wasn't supposed to have my test yet. I don't know." I said, almost crying. Tears were swirling in the bottom of my purple eyes. Actually, my eyes might not even be purple. I had no idea what embarrassing colour my eyes were flashing. That thought tipped me over the edge and I did what I do best. I ran out of the pool center. Then I started crying.

It wasn't too long before Cassity found me. But it was long enough for me to think and get a wonky grip on my bearings. "There you are." She said. "I guess I am." I answered. "What happened back there?'' She asked. "Your eyes changed to the colour of a rain cloud, all light grey and moist. Is-Is everything OK?" She actually sounded genuine. So I told her. Everything. About how I was half Myeuen and half Feyarie. Feyarie, she told me, she already knew. Myeuen surprised her. I told her how I never fit in, even with my own family. And how I always, always felt so lonely. When I finished I expected her to jump up and tell everyone how pathetic I was. But Cassity did one thing I would never had expected. She hugged me. For those brief moments we hugged, everything felt better. And when she let go, I felt different. I had changed. Because I had one thing I had never had before in my life. I had a friend.

"We should go." Cass told me. I nodded and stood up. "Why was Jason so angry?" I asked. Cass got a look in her black and green eyes. "Jason is really passionate about all of us. Half breeds. He was angry at himself, because he hasn't asked you about your powers when we met. Now he feels like he betrayed you. It was just a weird way to express it." She explained. Good. Nice to know he doesn't hate me. Cass smiled. "We should go." She said again. We walked back to the swimming centre where Jason was waiting. When he saw us he rushed over. "Thank god! You were gone for ages. I'm sorry if I-I made you upset. But I think we should go to the Hall, where we can all ask questions." Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw the books that I'd borrowed sitting on the bench. I ran over and grabbed them then ran back. "Good to go!" I chirped. I could felt that Jason was pleased. "Good. Let's go." He said. We went back outside and waited. "What are we waiting for?" I asked Cass. It was Jason that answered though. "Our ride." He said with a flourish as a golden carriages pulled up in front of him. He opened the door. "Ladies first." He told us. When we were seated he jumped in and shut the door. He grinned. "I love carriages" He told me. I smiled, feeling a bit shy. I mean, seriously. I was sitting across from the best looking guy I'd seen in my whole life. The carriage stopped.

Jason cleared his throat. "Sorry about this, but I'm going to have to blindfold you." He said. Cass glared at him. "Really, Bucket? A blindfold?". She hissed at him. Part of me was happy that Cass was my friend and was sticking up for me, but another part of me was dying. Jason didn't trust me. "I'm sorry, but you're not part of the Council and there are things that have to be done before you can look around." I let him tie the blindfold around my eyes. I didn't really have a choice. I was pushed around, until an argument broke out. When it was done I was being guided gently. I had a feeling that it was Cass that was helping me. She got me to sit down on a soft, couch, maybe? Then my blindfold was yanked off. But the only person near me was Cass, and she would not do something that rough to me. In front of me sat four half breeds. Five, counting Jason, who sat a bit to the side, like an assistant. "For the introductions." Jason spoke. "This is David. He is half Brownie and half Troll. He has the ability to summon winds. Air-control, if you like.'' Blake raised his hand. "This is Fergus. He is half Dryad and half Brownie. He is Telepathic. To his right is Melody. She is half Water Nymph and half Dryad. She can control water. We also have Pollo. He is half Angel and half Cyclops. His power is Control. He will speak what he wants you to do and you will do it." They all raised their hands in turn. I didn't think much of the others, but Pollo was beautiful. Jason continued. "Now for me. I am Jason. I am half Water Nymph and half Venti, Storm Spirit. My ability is Ice."

To prove his point, he opened his hand, and nestled softly in the middle of his palm was a rose made of ice. Then he put his hand into a fist and it was gone. Wow. His power matches his eyes! That was amazing. They were all from such awesome breeds. "Now you." Jason told me. "Me? OK. Well, I am Syrus. I am half Myeuen and half Feyarie. I don't know what my ability is." I said to them all. "Well.' I said as an after thought. "I can read emotions. It's a Feyarie thing. All Feyarie have it". David, Fergus, Melody and Pollo nodded. "It is strange." Pollo said. "That you do not know your power. Am I right?" The Council members nodded. "We will teach you, yes? Then you will be able to do something other than emotion reading."
