I've been planning to explore the world for some time now. I love the idea of traveling, and seeing what Earth has to offer! But I never know when something might go wrong. If I crash my car and can't afford to go, if I'm put in jail for some reason, or I die... I'll never get to see the world! That's why I need to start as soon as possible.

"Are you sure you wanna go, Danielle? You have plenty of time to see the world! I just don't want you to rush into this!" my mother rambles.

"Mom, I'm sure. I've never been so sure about anything before." I beam. I understand why she is protective though. I'm her only company. Only child still at home, other than her boyfriend, if he counts. Since he is so much younger than her. I'm glad he's not here for this departure. He's always creeped me out.

"Are you sure you're ready?" Mom asks. I look at all of my luggage around me. I pack pretty light, so I only have two medium sized suitcases. I've always hated packing heavy. It's so annoying to have all that extra baggage.

"Yes, yes, yes, mom," I sigh.

"When do you leave for your flight?" My mom asks for what seems to be the hundredth time. I smile and politely respond anyway.

"45 minutes."

As if on cue, I hear my sister barreling down the stairs. Daphne attacks me in a hug and I can't help but groan. She's always been protective of me, so you can imagine her attitude towards me leaving the country by myself at 19.

"Daph, please release me." I laugh under my breath. She eventually lets me go, but not after annoyingly rubbing my head with her knuckles. Not that my hair was fixed or anything, but I could have done without the extra knots.

Daphne looks straight into my eyes and says, "Be safe, D. If you die, I will kill you."

"Alright, D. Don't know how you'll do that, but I believe you."

My mother, sister, and I call each other D. It's a little family inside joke since mom decided to pick names to match hers: Darlene.

Daphne brings a piece of my luggage out to the car. I hear a distinct sniffle behind me. Oh gosh.

I turn just in time to be blinded by a cameras' flash.

"Ugh, Mom-"

"MY LITTLE BABY!" She screams over the sound of me scolding her. She wraps her arms around me and tightens her grip. "Where is Benjamin when I need him," she mutters about her boyfriend. I roll my eyes while she can't see.

Honestly, how is she going to survive these two weeks?
