Chapter 2

We got to the school and I park in a spot close to the door. I looked over at Arica with her headphones in singing. I shook her leg and we got out of my car and walked towards the school where I saw some friends from the basketball team. I told Arica I would meet her later and I went to talk to my friends Blake, Jake, Chris, and Mason.

Josh: Wassup b****** (laughing)

Chris: Wassup homie (daps Josh off)

Mason: Yeah wazzam (daps Josh off)

Jack: Boy where the hell you been (daps Josh off)

Blake: (daps Josh off) He been with that damn loner of a girl

Josh: (mugs Blake) Nigga leave her alone fah I pimp slap ya two pointa ahh

Blake: Man whateva (laughs)

(Arica's point of view)

Walking through the halls I look for my locker. "2048" Left 2 right 10 left 25 and the locker opens. I put my binders away and leave my geometry and english binders in my bag. I closed my locker and headed to my first class, which happens to be geometry. Math early in the morning isn't for me at all. I make my way to class and saw that I was the first one there. Sitting in the back, I took out my supplies and my phone and heaphones. I started listenig to a song making a dance to it in my head as I sing.

Sometimes I get emotional And I can't seem to find the way I'm s'posed to go

And all these so-called people that I'm s'posed to know They be the main ones

Smile up in your face, but behind your back they hate So I hope you know

You ain't the only reason I'm emotional My tears fall like water so that I can grow

Sometimes I need to cry just to ease my hurt But when I let the song cry

Arica stops singing as she looks up seeing the teacher and Blake at the door watching her. She put her head down hoping they didn't hear her, but Blake walks over to her desk.

Blake: So the loner girl thinks she can sing now

Arica: Blake just leave me alone

He walked away as Josh, Jake, Mason, and Chris walked in taking their seats in the back corner near Arica. Aye Blake why you talking to Arica. Blake smiled and looked at Arica. Cuz the loner girl thought she could sing ya know I had to kill her dream. They looked at Arica and laughed. My bestfriend can sing. They looked at Josh and laughed again. Good one they all said. Man whatever.

The teacher starts to put his papers on the desk and introduces his self. Goodmorning class my name is Mr.Turk and I am your Geometry teacher. He continued to tell the class his rules while walking around. He walked and called roll til he got to Arica. And you must be Arica, he said as he touched her shoulder. She jumped back out of her seat with the most frightened look on her face. "Arica are you ok" She looked at him silently then at the class watching her. "Arica are you ok" She shook her head yes then set down in her seat. Mr.Turk walked back to his desk and looked at Arica as she played with her nails not making eye contact.

Well class I want you to partner up into groups of threes because we have an odd number of people. He watched as Arica didn't move and how no one wanted to partner with her. He walked over to her and asked her to join a group. He looked around and saw Josh and his friends in a big group. "You can join them Arica" She looked at him like he lost his mind, but did as he said. She stood up and he walked her over to their group. "She's going to join your group and I'll let you'll be a big group so work with her"
