'breakin' your teeth on the hard life a'coming, show your scars! Cuttin' your feet on the hard earth a'running, show your scars! ~ Metallica'

Garret PoV:

I am such an idiot. I'm currently lying in a bed, with my wings and horn both inoperable. Not like completely useless, but my wings are tied down and there's a ring on my horn. I'm not nervous, nor am I strapped down, I'm just chilling here honestly. It's about midnight, and I'm tired, but I can't sleep. There's four ponies that are all 'my biggest fans' and if I sleep I'm not sure what they're gonna do. For all I know when I wake up I'm going to be all happy, and safe in my bed. But I doubt that. And either way I'm not nervous. Equestria isn't exactly deadly. The worst that happens is they decide they love me.

"So, you're my biggest fans?" I timidly asked, rolling my shoulders.

"Yeah!" Cinnamon said.

"Of course!" Cordial said.

"Totally!" Chrissie squealed.

"How do I have fans? What did I do to earn a fandom?" I cocked my head. "Or a biography?"

"Well, being the first human in Equestria in thousands of years is a big deal, on top of fixing the eternal night, on top of surviving gender and species swaps on top of Lyra on top of Pinkamena. You've got a cult-following." Chrissie replied smugly, her smile widening.

"So, why do you all like me?" I cocked my head again, pulling with my wings at the rope.

"Well... You got Chrissie here her cutie mark, you in a sense saved Cordial's live, you're Cinnamon's hero, and I just follow the crowd." Crystal shrugged.

"So you could honestly care less?" My eyes widened and I got an idea. Maybe if Crystal doesn't care, she could help me leave?

"Nah, my friends like you. That means I like you. That's the way that works. Conformity, it's my talent. I can fit in anywhere." Crystal laughed, "Crystal isn't even my name. It's just a moniker. None of the names we told you are our real names, Chrissie is really-"

"Shh! Doesn't matter who I am." Chrissie interrupted.

"No, it really doesn't." I nodded, "I don't care, as long as I get home tomorrow."

"Well, we think we deciphered your old cutie mark. And I'm really Cinnamon..." Cinnamon laughed. He whispered that last part into my ear.

"It was easy, simple. It was how I had free will to fight with or against the dark imprisoning the land. Had I chosen, the night could have been even more hell on Equestria than it was." I closed my eyes and yawned.

"Sure. We think it had to do with your constant struggle between Lyra and Twilight. Twilight being one of the two colors of the triangles, Lyra being the other, with the pentagram symbolizing the pain you both caused and suffered." Cordial smiled, a jolt running through her horn.

Chrissie scoffed, "Human cutie mark, human interpretations. It's simple..." She popped her back, "Its just a mark to show how unique he really is. Not his talent. Apparently guitar is his talent. It was just a place-holder most likely." She smiled and rolled her shoulder.

"Whatever it was, it isn't there now." I opened my eyes, bloodshot and heavy. "Promise me something..."

"Sure! Anything!" All four of them practically surrounded me on the bed.

"If-... When I fall asleep, promise me I won't wake up dead, chained up, or tied down." I yawned again.

"Let's be honest." Chrissie looked to her friends. "The first two I can promise. You can't wake up if you're dead," REFRENCE, "And chains are a bit sadistic for me. The third, not so much. You've been war-"
