Chapter 23: His Failure

Palabas na rin ako ng parking space nang mamataan ko si Dillenna na papunta palang sa parking space. Naningkit ang mga mata ko nang makita ko si Easton na lumapit sa kanya. Baba na sana ako ngunit nilapitan na ito ng mga guards niya.

"Hey, it's alright! He's my friend."awat niya sa mga ito.

No, Dillenna. That is a mistake. You can't stay close to them. Bakit ba niya inilalapit ang sarili niya sa gulo? Dillenna...

"Chase. What brings you here?"she asked him.

"I just missed you and I badly wanted to see your beautiful face, Goddess."

Napakuyom ako ng palad. Alam kong hindi ikakasaya ni Dillenna ang nasa isip ko. But I can't afford to see her near him—near any other man!

"Back off, Easton."

Nginisian niya ako. Lumapit sa'min ang mga guards ni Dillenna.

"Sir, please move."anas ng isang guard sa'kin.

"Stop acting like the arrogant you, Crawford. She's no longer your girl. She's not even a girl. Dillenna is not a jewelry in mortgage you can claim whenever you want it back. She's a gem you shouldn't have traded for a stone."nakangising saad niya sa'kin habang hinawakan ako ng mga guards.

Itinakwil ko ang mga kamay nito at bigong bumalik sa kotse. Napasuntok ako sa steering wheel ng paulit-ulit habang pinapanood ko siyang umalis kasama ang gagong si Ferguson.

I failed again. I failed again because I am a jerk. She's no longer listening to me.

"TJ, GET UP!"

Whilst I rubbed my eyes with my hands, I slowly got up to face the one who woke me up.

"Amity's parents are already downstairs. Hurry up and fix yourself!"mom blared.

Tinamad akong lalo nang maalalang may family dinner nga pala tonight. The first thought that occured to me is to ditch them. Before I could fuck up everything, I forced myself to get down where everyone is waiting for me. Amity welcomed me with her warm smile, as usual. I looked away. Hindi ko sinadyang mapatingin sa ina ko. Pinandilatan niya ako ng mata. Her gaze gestured me towards Amity's parents.

"Sha---shall we go?"anas ko nang wala sa sarili.

Hindi ko hinayaan ang sarili kong makinig pa sa kung anumang sasabihin nila. Nagpatiuna na ako't dumiretso sa loob ng kotse. The dinner was over and here I am with Amity in my room. Diretso akong humiga sa kama nang makapasok na kami sa loob.

"Bumangon ka diyan!"singhal niya sa'kin na sobrang ikinagulat ko.

After a month of me treating her coldly while we're together, I've never heard anything bad from her. Actually, we haven't really talked.

"Bumangon ka sabi eh!"

"Ano ba'ng problema mo? I want to sleep already! Will you tone down your voice?"angil ko rin sa kanya nang makabangon ako.

"Bakit? Natatakot ka bang marinig nila kung gaano ka kabastos at walang respeto? Theon, tanggap ko ang cold treatment mo sa'kin dahil alam ko namang siya ang mahal mo! Pero..."she stopped and cried. "Pero Theon, ang sakit na eh. Dinadamay mo ang mga magulang ko. Kahit sila lang, respetuhin mo naman."mahinang saad niya at umupo sa kama nang nakatalikod sa'kin.

Out of my anticipation, guilt wrapped my whole system. Right that moment, I want to hold her hand or pat her back and or hug her. But I can't move. I don't want to move.

"Mahal na mahal kita, Theon. At kung pwede lang sana kitang palayain, gagawin ko. But my baby needs you. Kahit para sa anak ko lang, maging masaya ka naman."mahinang sambit niya.

Tumayo ako para lapitan siya. Yet, I was nailed to where I stood up. Closing my eyes, I tried to shove away the guilt eating me. I succeeded. Instead of offering her comfort, I strided off the room.

"TJ! Where are you going?"dad blared while I was on my way to the garage.

"I— I left something. I mean— I have to get something for Amity."pagsisinungaling ko.

"I heard her voice. Are you having a fight?"

Napatingin ako sa baba. Alam kong papagalitan na niya naman ako. Sasabihin niya na namang wala akong kwenta—

"Son. I know you love her. But she's gone. Amity needs you. The baby needs you."he said in a considerate tone which made my tear fell eventually.

He called me son.

"Dad..."I muttered as I sobbed. "I love her so much dad. I saw her this morning. Hindi ko kayang panoorin siya sa malayo na may kasamang iba."I confided when he hugged me.

"That is what she felt when she found out you cheated on her. It was even worse that that. TJ, let her go. In a few days' time, you are to be married to Amity. You have to accept the fact that your life is going to change and that she is no longer a part of it."

"But dad—"

"You should have thought of this when you cheated on her."he cut me off.

"Even if it hadn't happened, mom would still ruin her. She'd still wreck us."I whispered.

"It should be what you have fought together now and not this."tugon niya na nagpamulat sa'kin.

He's right. Hindi sana ito ang hinaharap ko ngayon. Magkasama sana naming haharapin lahat ng mga problema sa buhay namin. Magkasama parin sana kami.

"Are you going to that place again?"

Napatigil ako sa tanong niyang 'yon.

"I think you need to know this TJ, your mom is planning to sell that house."

"What? Dad no! Hindi niya pwedeng gawin 'yon. I own that house. I have its papers—"

"She took it. Just like me TJ, she also found out that you went there every night."wika niyang lalong nagpagulo ng isip ko.

Magmula pa ng araw na umalis siya, gabi-gabi akong pumupunta sa bahay namin ni Dillenna. Kahit nang magpasya si mommy na patirahin sa bahay si Amity, tumatakas ako sa tuwing nakakatulog na silang lahat.

Walang sandaling hindi ako nagsisi sa pagkakamali ko. I want her back but I can't do it. Dahil siguro kung si mommy at Amity lang ang hadlang, ipaglalaban ko siya. Alam naman ng lahat na hindi lang si Amity ang nangangailangan sa'kin.

Nagkuyom ang palad kong pumasok sa loob ng bahay. Hindi ito pwedeng ibenta ni mommy.

Nangako ako kay Dillenna. I failed her already, I won't fail her again.
