I make Heleios wait at the top of the staircase while I run downstairs to get the keys. I come running back upstairs and we walk for a couple of minutes down the long dark hallways while I carry a torch. We finally come to a more spacious hallway with cobwebs and some dust on the floor.
I turn to a door on the left. "Okay, here we are!" I hand the torch over to Heleios while I unlock the door. The door creaks open and inside is a spacious room with a large white bed, flat screen tv, and huge window. Heleios sits on the bed with his stuff and I just stand at the door yawning. "Okay, well this is where you'll be living for the next couple of days.", I say tiredly. I turn on the tv. "All comfortable? Good night.", I call as I close the door behind me. "Good night...", he says with a look as if he wants to tell me something.
I don't mean to leave so abruptly from him, but I'm exhausted from the day. Leaving him as the only guest in a long dark hallway in a new world unfamiliar to him. "Ugh, that sounded more worse than I thought.", I think to myself. I turn around and knock on the door.
He asks "Who is it?" with tension in his voice. "It's me, Luna.", I reassure him. The door opens slightly with the latch keeping it from opening any further. When he sees me he closes it and undoes the latch. I walk in and sit on the bed. He takes a seat next to me. "Why did you come back?", he asks melancholy. I pity him. "I didn't want to leave you feeling all alone and sad." He chuckles. "Well?...", I ask. "Well I did feel like you just dumped me here." "I know, but I'm just so tired from the days new things...Do you want me to stay here a little while?", I question, hoping he says no. "No...that's all right you should get your rest and I'm pretty exhausted too with traveling and all." "Okay" I get up and walk to the door. "Night." "Night."
With a lamp and a large ring of keys in my hands I walk silently back towards the stairs. Being careful not to spot anyone who might be up nearby. I'm about three-fourths of the way there when I hear faint chatter. I freeze in my tracks. "Well, where are they?", I hear a voice ask. "I don't know. They were there when...well they've been there since the beginning of time.", I hear another voice respond and I immediately know that they're talking about the keys. I feel a strong feeling racing through my body making my eyes grow wide. "Somebody must have taken them." "We'll look tomorrow morning." I let out a breath. "Who's there?", the voice asks and the feeling comes back to me. I stay as still as the moon hoping that whatever ghouls are around the corner don't come back here and see me with the keys in my hand. I hold my breath. "Must have just been the nightly breeze." I take in a silent breath of relief. I hear them go their separate ways and enter their bedrooms.
I take a small peek around the corner, head down the staircase quickly, put the keys back on the hook as silently as possible, and trot back up the stairs into my room. I close the door behind me and climb into bed. I don't dare look at the clock because I know it's late. Letting out a sigh, I turn off the light and close my eyes. Drifting into sleep I think about Heleios' golden hair and olive skin and my 'feelings' just moments before.
