I let out a sigh of relief. I’d been so pumped up by the victory to think about the fact that I had won myself a one-way ticket to the greatest duelling academy that exists. Although, thinking about it, I strive for more than what I already have. I need to get on the turbo duelling course as well. That will make a perfect day for me.

“Intense duel you just had” said a voice from the shadows of the tunnel, “Way to beat my old friend...”

I looked up instantly, looking for the person who said it. He walked into the light. A man in his forties, may be early fifties stood in front of me. He had scruffy brown hair which was of two shades and he sported an old Slifer red jacket. His deep brown eyes looked at me, with a sort of flare in them.

“Wait are you who I think you are?” I said in surprise

“Depends if you think I’m Jaden Yuki...” the man replied

“Yeah... that would be it” I gasped in disbelief, “It’s an honour to meet you”

“You too, especially after a performance like that, Bastion is a particularly difficult opponent, and you just beat him like it was second nature”

“Wow, thanks! I guess it was just my lucky day” I laughed

“Ohh that wasn’t luck, you obviously believe strongly in your deck, and it responds with draws just when you need them.”

“Well I do have a strong connection with my cards, not much unlike you I guess”

“I think you may be the only other person I have met other than Yugi Moto, who has a stronger connection with his cards” He admitted.

After he said this, a faint furry ball with wings rose from Jaden’s shoulder and made a funny noise. Winged Kurriboh. I was shocked for a second that I actually saw it.

“Judging by that look you’ve just seen my pal Winged Kurriboh” he laughed

“Yeah... I haven’t seen another duel spirit in ages...” I replied

“Oh so you have one too?” he said, taken aback

At that moment, the faint girl with blonde hair rose from my back. She was wearing a sky blue and pink outfit with a large spiky hat and she held a staff in one hand.

“Ahh the Dark Magician Girl,” He said, “I was half expecting a dragon”

“I can see why, I don’t actually put her in my deck” I admitted, “she stays here...”

I pulled out the necklace out from under my shirt. On the end of the chain was a card holder and inside a duel monster card. The Dark Magician Girl.

“Why not put her in your deck?”

“I like to keep her safe. She was my best friend’s before she mysteriously vanished... the only thing that remained of her was this card, her favourite card.” I reminisced, “I vowed on that day I would keep it as a reminder of her and that I’ll always be looking for her.”

“That’s deep...” he said somewhat awkwardly

“That, and she doesn’t really fit in my deck...” I admitted

The girl looked offended  by what I just said

“I’m sorry! It’s not your fault! I just so happen to run a bad deck for you...”

She forgave me quickly and smiled.

“Look, Dom, right? Well, I want you to take these” he said, handing two cards to me, “They’re both the same card... but I think they fit with your deck quite sweetly”

“Wow, thanks!” I said, taking the cards

Jaden was right. They really would help a lot in my deck. Elemental Hero Woodsman. It’s effect makes it easier for me to fuse monsters.

“You can go far kid, but remember, never underestimate a Slifer!” he laughed

“Oh I won’t,” I smiled “I’m not actually a snob like most of the Obelisks I assume will be... I’m just a decent duellist... or so I’m told...”

“Right, better be off, I don’t want to get mobbed by people wanting my autograph... I’ll be here all night... nice meeting you!” he said, jogging away

“It was an honour!” I shouted, waving.

I looked to my side. The girl was waving too, and laughing.

I’ll find you Terri... I don’t know how, and I don’t know where you are... but I’ll find you... even if it means risking my life...
