“Will candidate 717, Dominic Mellor please take to the duelling track, that’s candidate 717, Dominic Mellor, thank you.” The tannoy system ringed
This is it. I mount my runner and place my helmet on my head. I’ve been waiting in the pits for about an hour now. I had to escape my newly acquired fans; I didn’t want the attention mainly because of my turbo duel. However, the expectation to win is higher than ever. Revving Neos, I ride onto the track and take my entry formation lap, making sure to warm my tyres up. It is crucial I do this because the short distance to the first corner is a race, and where we come in this race will determine who goes first. If I win this race, I will have the advantage of going first. The arena is packed. Must be prospect of me, a proven powerful duellist, versus Crow Hogan, one of the best pro turbo duellists out there currently. I have to be on my toes, a slip up could cost me dearly. I hear a muffled mass of cheering. Crow must’ve taken the track. I stop at the start line, revving my engine little by little to keep the engine warm. The black runner pulls up beside me. We exchange looks. I see him smile fiercely, I mimic his expression.
“I’m looking forward to this, if you turbo duel anything like you do statically, we’re in for one hell of a duel” I hear his voice confidently, though my earpiece
“You’re not too bad yourself; let’s give this crowd a duel they won’t forget!”
I hear a roar from the audience; they must’ve linked our voices up to the loudspeakers.
“Turbo duellists ready! The race will start when all the lights go out!”
Five lights are lit before me, I rev my engine slightly. Four. I shoot a look at Crow, he looks confident, I must win this race. Three. Keeping my hand on the brake, I rev louder. Two. The crowd is screaming with anticipation. One. This is it. None. In one fluid motion, I release the brake and apply a little power, to make sure I don’t wheel spin, then up to full throttle. The power is intense. People turn into colourful blobs as I speed down the straight. I dare not look back or to the side as I may catch some drag. I know I’m ahead of Crow because I have yet to see him pass me. Banking into the corner, I have the inside edge of the track. I quickly look to the side before my assumptions are confirmed.
“And we are off! Dominic Mellor has taken the lead into the first corner, granting him the first turn, let’s hope he makes it count!”
When I exit the corner, I see Crow catch up to me.
“Nicely done, didn’t expect such raw speed, let’s get this duel started shall we?”
I nod, as we both press buttons on our dashboards.
“The Speed World II field spell has now been activated” my runner informs me.
As this happens, my runner grows some extensions from the sides of its bodywork. Two small rectangular shapes light up on the extensions and one on an extension sprouting from the bodywork in front of me. The onboard duel disk.
“Ok, It’s my turn!” I call
Dom: 4000 LP - 1 SC (Speed Counter)
Crow: 4000 LP - 1 SC
“First of all, I summon my Twilight Rose Knight (1000 Atk/ 1000 Def) in attack position!” I announce, “and I shall activate his ability, allowing me to special summon a level 4 of lower plant type monster from my hand, so come forth Revival Rose (1300 Atk/ 1300 Def)! That’s not all though! Level 3 Twilight Rose Knight, tune with level 4 Revival Rose! I synchro summon... BLACK ROSE DRAGON! (2400 Atk/ 1800 Def)”
The elegant red dragon appears above me as the crowd awes in confusion.
“I do not believe it! Dominic has surprised us again by summoning the legendary Black Rose Dragon, said to belong to Akiza Izinski! He now holds 2 of the legendary signer dragons after surprised us just a couple of hours ago by summoning Stardust Dragon!”
