Lydia POV;
As soon as we got home, we went towards my desk. I started to work on some pieces of mine. I put the stencils on my desk and traced it.
I could feel Stiles behind me, looking at what I was doing. I just blocked it out, since I was a little nervous.
At one point, Stiles came up behind me and tickled me. I messed up my sketch, and I wasn't going to let him go easy. I chased him around my room, but not too loud since someone could come home at any second.
As soon my phone started to ring, I stopped. Nobody ever calls me except. Oh god. I quickly answer, ignoring the looks that Stiles gave me.
"Hello?" I asked with a surge of urgency.
"Hi, is this Lydia Martin?" The monotone voice asks
"This is her." I respond back
"We have urgent news," The voice responds as I sit down on my bed with a loud flop.
---------------------------------------------------
As soon as I heard the words that came out of the man's mouth I was in tears:
"Your grandmother is at Stage 4 cancer. We believe that this is her last couple days with us. There is a slight chance of recovery, but again, it is very unlikely." He said, as if he ripped the band-aid off without a warning.
"W-what....Can I- uh- Can I speak to her?" I asked as tears fell from my eyes.
I can feel Stiles eyes on me, but I ignore it. He reaches out and puts a hand on my shoulder. He has no idea what happened, but I can tell he is ready to comfort me each step of the way.
"I am sorry to say, but she is sleeping right now," He replies, " I suggest you come soon to say your final goodbye's, just in case."
"Ok.. I will catch a flight as soon as possible." I say before hanging up and lowering my head.
I let out a low sigh and let the tears roll down my cheeks. I put my head in my hands and cry for a few minutes before I feel large hands pick me up.
Stiles puts me on his lap. I feel safe and warm. I want to stay there all day. I sob onto his chest for a couple more minutes before I get up and go to my closet.
I grab a couple pairs of shirts and pants with my sneakers close by. Then I go to the back of my closet and fish out the memory box filled with hidden memories from the past. I then pull out the small jewelry box at the bottom.
My grandmother gave this to me and I never lost it. Since I don't have much jewelry I put the money that I have saved since I was a little kid their. I open the box and take out the money.
I quickly count the money that I have saved up since I was 8. The total was $508.69. If a plane ticket was about $379, then that will leave me with $129. 69 left over for food and shelter. I then grab my phone, charger, book, and sketch pad with a pencil and then turn to Stiles.
"Um.. sorry for the trouble-uh- but I might need you to find a way home since I am flying to New Jersey today. I was nice mee-" I said before I broke down right before his eyes.
He immediately came and gave me comfort. He knew that I was not going to tell him what happened for a long time, but he still helped me through this.
When I finally stopped crying I put my head down on his shoulders before I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
-------------------------
When I woke up I was engulfed in someone's arms. I looked up at stared at the hazelnut eyes that were looking down at me. I then smiled slightly.
"Um.. sorry about last night, um.. something important popped up and I need to go see someone before uh-" I couldn't finish what I was saying, but he stopped me before I started crying.
"Hey, look at me. You don't need to tell me. Just tell me where you need to go and I will get you there ASAP." He said giving me a small smirk. "Ok,"
"Yeah, ok. But I can pay. You don't need to do tha-" I said back before he cut me off, once again
"I want to. You are amazing. I mean if I was in your situation, and wasn't famous, then I would be living on the streets. I mean, you make your own money without your parents help. And let's not forget about your attitude, and how you can take care of yourself. At the end of the day, you are even better than me Lydia." He said as he played with my hair. "And that says a lot Martin,"
"Thank you, that means a lot to me." I said as I laughed a little.
"No problem Lyds" He said
"Lyds?" I said back looking up at him, realizing our position was very comfortable. He was laying on the bed, and I was laying in between his legs. My head was on his chest, and his arms were wrapped around me, and it felt like he wasn't letting go anytime soon.
"What? I like it, that's what I am going to call you. Or buttercup. I mean I like both so.. " He said to me.
"Whatever you want scruffy." I reply back
"Scruffy?" He looks down to me and smiles.
"Yeah, it fits you." I say as I pat his chest and then slowly withdraw from the extremely comfortable position.
"Ok.. so where are you heading?" He asks me as I leans on my bed.
"New Jersey." I say as I finish packing my things.
"Hey. That's where I am from. Why don't I come and help you with whatever happened, and then we can head back to my house. I will cancel my show tomorrow, and have it some other time. This is my last concert so, lets have like a 'vacation' before you go off to college and I go back to my music?" He asks me, as hopeful as he would ever be.
"I don't know scruffy.." I say as I look towards him and put my hand on my hip.
"Come on, it'll be fun buttercup." He says with puppy dog eyes.
"Ok fine." I say as I put the last of the things in my bag before convincing my parents to go across the country to New Jersey with a "friend".
