Up All Night

Emily cried. She wanted to see Jasper, but she didn't know he was THAT bad, centipedes and everything.

Emily walked into the waiting room, the makeup on her face smeared. She looked like a clown, it was pretty bad too, but Jasper was worse. Jasper, Jasper, Jasper. All Emily could think about. Her husband, her missing daughter.

The messy girl sat down in a waiting room hair, sighing. As she waited for news of her husband, Emily grabbed a magazine from the shelf. On the front page, there was a man that looked like her worst nightmare, Mr. Harmon, but it couldn't be, it just couldn't. And the man was holding her baby. Ruby was laughing, having fun. Emily sighed, putting the magazine down.

All of a sudden a kind looking nurse holding a clip board walked in.

"Are you Emily?" she asked, sitting down in the chair next to her.

"Yes," Emily replied, wiping her face, trying to look more presentable.

"Well, we have news on your husband, but first I need to ask you a few questions," the nurse gave a kind smile to Emily, who nodded.

"The doctors said they had no idea how the centipedes entered Jasper's body. It is a rare thing for that to happen. Do you know if Jasper had done any outside activities before getting into the accident?" the nurse questioned gently.

"No, we were busy babysitting our child."

"Got it, now, do you know if he has had any or has any medical conditions?" the lady wrote something down on her clip board.

"Yes, he suffers with PTSD. There was an incident a while ago, but we both don't like to talk about it," Emily trembled slightly, thinking about her horrendous past.

"Well, thank you so much, Emily. The doctors estimated Jasper will be out of the hospital in a few days," the nurse patted Emily on the knee before walking out of the waiting room.

Emily stood up, grabbed her purse, and exited the waiting room.

The lonely girl opened the car door and headed inside. The house was not home without Jasper. It was cold and dark and quiet. The house reminded Emily of the Harmon's house. Mysterious. She didn't like it one bit but it would have to be that way for a while. At least a few days that is.

The lonely girl slowly made her way up the creaky stairs, peering inside Ruby's pink room just in case the whole thing was a nightmare, but if course there was no Ruby.

She walked to Jasper and her room, sighing at the empty bed that she would have to sleep in.

Before hopping into the bed, Emily undressed and changed into a sweatshirt and night pants, hopping onto the cold bed. Without Jasper and Ruby, Emily felt like she had no family. Emily was a nobody, and her life was a nightmare.
