SHORT STORY #5 (which may or may not be a short book o_o)

Cold. All I feel. Cold, and weak. My stomach hasn't had enough to eat. Just enough to keep me alive. The monarch of this world is cruel, oh so very cruel. She traps all the bronzes and keeps the golds and silvers alive. Which means I'm a bronze or, basically, the lowest type of class you can get. My mom was half bronze half silver, and my dad was a full blood gold, but somehow, they managed to make me, a sad bronze, along with my older brother. In order to keep their reputations as respectable golds and silvers, they had to give both me and my brother up to the Queen, so, I was thrown into the bronze dungeons.

I share this tight duplex with my older brother. It is NOT fun. I'm just sitting here, looking around, waiting for food or SOMEONE to bail us out, say that we are good people. Everyone believes that bronzes are "bad" because "bronzes are a poison to humanity" and "are cursed to a horrible life". Those aren't even reasons!

I wish I could be back home. I have a slight remembrance of it, and I bet Teagan, my brother does too. All he could talk about for the first two days was about how pretty everything was back at our mansion and the beautiful monograms on the towels. I don't remember, since it was so long ago, but sure would like to. They sounded beautiful.

"Let's go outside." he suddenly says. Wait what?

"What do mean 'let's go outside'?" I ask, making air quotes.

"I mean, let's go outside. As in, let's go get some fresh air instead of being stuck in this tight place. Yes, we are going to sneak past the guards. No, we will not make duplicates of ourselves with pillows stuffed in our clothing. We will do this and there is no turning back." he says.

"TEAGAN!" I yell. The guards look at me. I keep quiet. "Teagan, how can we do this? There's a giant monolith blocking the way that even we can't move to get us out. The guards literally have super-enhancers that enhance what their ears hear. They can hear us even if we try to not make any noise. You know that, Teagan. We will never get back to mom and dad, we will never get back to Iris, and we will never be able to prove that we are equal to everyone else!" I start panicking after my amazing monologue.. I burst into tears and fall onto the ground. "Teagan, we're never going back home. We're never." I whisper so he can hear, and bury my hands into my face crying, He comes and kneels down to comfort me, patting my back.

"It will be fine," Teagan says. "I promise, I won't let them take you away from me. You know the rule. Me, then yo-" he starts, but I cut him off. "No. It will be me then you this time. I don't want you getting hurt, you know that. This decision isn't going to be unanimous between us, I know that. But, I want you to go back to Mom and Dad. You to make them regret what they did. I can't do that. Only you can. Okay?"

He hesitates. "Okay."

"Great. Now let's get packing."
