I smiled and walked over to the table. "Potter, Harry!" McGonagall said.  As Harry stepped forward, whispers suddenly broke out like little hissing fires all over the hall. "Potter, did she say?" The Harry Potter?" The hat was placed on Harry's head and it took a couple minutes until it finally yelled, "GRYFFINDOR!" He took off the hat and walked shakily toward the Gryffindor table. Percy got up and shook his hand vigorously, while the Weasley twins yelled, "We got Potter! We got Potter!" Harry sat down opposite the ghost in the ruff we'd seen earlier. The ghost patted his arm. Now there were only three people left to be sorted. "Thomas, Dean," a Black boy even taller than Ron, joined Harry at the Gryffindor table. "Turpin, Lisa," became a Ravenclaw and then it was Ron's turn. He was pale green by now. "GRYFFINDOR!" We clapped loudly with the rest as Ron collapsed into the chair next to him. "Your attention, please." McGonagall said. "Let the feast...begin." Dumbledore said food magically appears on all the tables, and the hall is filled with awe and chatter. "Wow." Harry said. "I'm half and half. Me dad's a Muggle. Mam's a witch. Bit of a nasty shock for him when he found out." A small boy, who I think said his name was Seamus, spoke up. Neville laughed as did most of the first years how heard him. Harry is sitting next to Percy and leans over towards Percy. "Say, Percy, who's that teacher talking to Professor Quirrell?" Harry asked. "Oh, that's Professor Snape, head of Slytherin house." Percy said looking up at Snape. "What's he teach?" I asked. "Potions. But everyone knows it's the Dark Arts he fancies. He's been after Quirrell's job for years." Percy said. Ron, having just finished a chicken wing, reaches into the bowl for more, and Sir Nicholas pops out. Ron yelled in surprise. I snickered at him and he shoved my shoulder. "Hello! How are you? Welcome to Gryffindor." Nick said. Numerous ghosts come pouring from the walls, sailing along. "Hello, Sir Nicholas. Have a nice summer?" Percy asked. "Dismal. Once again, my request to join the headless hunt has been denied." Nick said turning to leave. "Hey, I know you! You're Nearly Headless Nick!" Ron said. "I prefer Sir Nicholas if you don't mind."  "Nearly headless? How can you be nearly headless?" Hermione asked. "Like this. Nick said and grabs his head and pulls it to the side. His head is hanging on just by a thread. "Ew." Hermione said. "You asked." I said to Hermione, snickering. She glared at me and I smiled innocently. After diner Percy lead the Gryffindors up the stairs towards the dorm. "Gryffindors, follow me please. Keep up. Thank you. This is the most direct path to the dormitories. Oh, and keep an eye on the staircases...they like to change." Percy said. I looked up and see a vast amount of staircases, people walking on them, and some switching places. "Keep up, please, and follow me. Quickly now, come on. Come on." Percy said. "Seamus, that picture's moving!" Neville said. "Look at that one, Harry!" Ron exclaimed. "I think she fancies you." Harry teased Ron. "Oh, look! Look! Who's that girl?" One of the girl's asked. "Welcome to Hogwarts." One of the men in a painting said. "Who's that?" Another girl asked. We approaching the Gryffindor dorms. We walked up to a large painting of a large woman in a pink dress. "Password?" She asked. "Caput Draconis." Percy said. The woman nods and the painting opens to reveal a gape in the wall. "Follow me, everyone. Keep up, quickly, come on." Percy said. We followed him into the common room and we all gasped. "Wow." A girl said. "Gather 'round here. Welcome to the Gryffindor Common Room. Boys' dormitories, upstairs and down to your left. Girls, the same on your right. You'll find that your belongings have already been brought up." Percy said. Me and Hermione walked up to the girl's dorm and I looked for my name on the doors. I found mine with Hermione's and three other girl's I didn't know. Parvati Patil, Lavender Brown, and Padma Patil. Me and Hermione walked in and no one was in the room yet. My stuff was stacked at the end of the bed in the corner. Hermione's bed was next to mine. I unpacked my stuff and set Blister's cage on the nightstand next to my bed and I let him out. He hopped around before sitting on the nightstand. After we settled in, I slid into my bed and turned off the light. I fell asleep soon after.
