(I've updated the cast list for this story but I think you can only view it on your computer, those are the characters I have in mind for now! btw this story's beginning is based on Star-Crossed the upcoming CW show since the trailer inspired me so much but the story's going to be different! hope you like i :))
I take two unsteady steps backwards as soon as I come to a realization where I was. I was behind a damn school bus.
"What?" I stuttered. I knew they weren't from Earth but he didn't seem anything close to a maniac.
"Nothing! I was joking!" Harry breaks his serious expression and I push the slight worried feeling behind me. Normally, I would be terrified with someone his height but he's harmless. He seems to be at least half a feet taller than me.
"Oh," I flush thinking about how weird I must seem to back away from him. The awkward tension is broken when one of his friends call out to him.
"That's Ariel, I think I should get going," Harry says to me calmly.
"Yeah, sure!" I manage to say. I realize that I've been twirling a piece of my dark brown hair in one hand.
"See you around." Harry begins to walk towards the girl who had called him and leaves me with a small smile. His dimple on his left cheek becomes extremely visible. The more I look at him, the more I find myself realizing that he's beautiful. He's not from Earth and that should bother me but it doesn't. He just seems like every other 18 year old boy here.
When the draining school day is finally over, I rush to take on my shift at my family's restaurant, Gilbert's. I am an adopted child and my family was kind enough to take care of me ever since I was seven. They have given me a place to stay and everything I really needed like the ability to go to school as well as clothes. I'm thankful for that. One day, I'd like to find out what happened to my birth parents though and why they abandoned me. I live in a two family house but I have a room in a the basement, it doesn't bother me though. The family I live with also has a daughter and we're the same age, except Camila goes to a different school.
No one at school knows I live in a basement room and I don't intend on anyone finding out either. My best friends know that I work though. I have enough clothes and I make a reasonable amount of money from working. I don't feel bad for myself since I have countless friends at school too. I hate being pitied.
"Nes!!! Nes!!! Where are you?" yells Kelsey. I don't call her my mother and she's exceptionally fine with that. She adopted me from an orphanage when I was seven.
"I'm here!" I call back to her as I toss my bag over the counter and put on an apron.
"Good! Go to the kitchen and wash the developing mountain of dishes!" Her snappy voice demands.
"On my way!" I tell her. Just before I reach the kitchen, I spot Camila behind the cashier filing her nails.
"Hey!" I address Camila and she ignores me.
When I find the pile of greasy and murky dishes, I cringe but start on them when I recollect myself.
"Nes!!!! Come help get the orders!!!!"
"Throw out this trash!!!!" I hear a combination of Kelsey and Camila's voices but I'm not certain which one exactly is calling me since they are mother and daughter.
Before I step out of the kitchen to assist them, I grasp my necklace with one hand and take a deep breath. The necklace surprisingly calms me, it's a simple silver necklace with a heart charm that opens up to an engraving that reads "I'll be back". A little boy I met gave it to me when I was six I think, I can hardly remember. The young boy was taken away by some people but the memory is unclear to me. He left this for me and for some strange reason, it gives me hope. The words "I'll be back". Maybe one day, I'll see him again and he'll tell me that everything will be okay with my overwhelming life. Renesmee, you're way too naive, you're eighteen my subconscious tells me and I hate that she is absolutely correct.
Harry's POV
Since the first day of class when I laid my eyes on her mesmerizing face, I knew it was her. Those eyes, it contained more life than anyone I've ever met before. She was different from everyone, she stood out, she's unlike anyone from Alecia.
"Renesmee." Her name alone makes my heart jump. I remember clearly that same name. On the day I was taken. The man in the uniform had said her name, it was the only word that I heard throughout that experience. She was the little girl in the shed. She comforted me and helped me. I'm not like her though, I'm from Alecia, she's from Earth. I want nothing more than to be close to her and to protect her like she had tried to protect me on that day when we were six. I desperately needed to talk to her but when I get the opportunity, I can't find the right words to tell her without sounding like a total maniac.
"Harry do you understand me?" Warlia's stern voice breaks me from my consuming thoughts. She's our leader or director. Whatever you call it. The thirty year old woman is in charge of the six of us from Alecia. She was giving us a lecture in one of the classrooms.
"What? Sorry," I reply.
"You can not fall in love with the humans. You're not like them and nothing you ever do can change that fact. Falling in love with a human will just get you hurt. You'll be heartbroken at the end. There are no happy endings. Ariel told me that you were absorbed by a girl. Renesmee was it?" Warlia asks with her hands crossed.
I shoot Ariel a glare. "I'm not absorbed in her. Don't worry." I say calmly trying to conceal the actual truth.
"Good." Warlia finally says.
"I wish I could be close to them though. Humans are so fun and exciting!" Layla exclaims while Lucas chuckles at her.
"What part of the human concert seems fun to you? They're all under the government's control. It's complete utter bullshit." Ethan states and glances at Ariel. Ariel plainly shrugs.
"It doesn't matter. This is something you all must put up with. Students here will be cruel, they may even want to see you fail. You six are easy targets because you're unlike them." Warlia begins again.
"We can take them," Lucas says with a smirk. Darcy stays silent.
"Anyway, if you all don't have any more questions for now you can go. If you need me though, come and find me." With that, Warlia leaves the classroom.
It was the six of us; Ariel, Layla, Lucas, Ethan, Darcy, and I. We were all the same age. Ever since I was taken and brought to Alecia, Ariel has been there. She has been there longer than I have which makes me feel bad for her. She's like a sister to me though. Layla and Lucas were brought in after I had and they eventually developed feelings for each other. They have been inseparable for years now. Darcy was the quiet blond, she was extremely smart but she didn't open up to many people. She was Darcy. Ethan, he's my best friend. The prankster and what not, he brings us fun. I suspect that he has a thing for Ariel though.
So far everything on Earth has been confusing. It's way too complicating. We're apart of some experiment from Warlia to see how we can react with humans. They tells us that both races will learn from each other but I doubt it.
I may seem insane but the only thing clear to me at this point is that I have to talk to Renesmee. I have to find her even if it's the last thing I do. I have to tell her what I've been dying to tell her ever since I met her. Warlia's warning swarms my mind but I ignore it.
