OKAY, Just a quick note before we begin. Hi!! For anyone that is returning, I am revising and updating this story majorly. I wrote this literally 5 years ago and I would like to say that myself, and my preferences and writing style have change. I am updating this story to be more developed and have more ~pizzazz~ in it. I will be marking the chapters I revise with a *revised 2020* next to the title until I have completely revised whatever there is of my book.

I hope you all enjoy please comment with what you loved, what you hated, what you want to happen next, how your day is whatever!! I am looking for new cover art so if anyone wants to spice up my lame book cover that would be amazing :)

PS - Phoebe Tonkin is who I imagine Cassia to be. Like or leave it, I don't care make up whoever in your head this is mine when I write OK BYE ILY TO THE 3 PEOPLE THAT WILL READ THIS

XOXO

The Denied Mate: Prologue

"CASSIA! WAKE UP!"

My eyes flew open. Where was I? I blinked and reassessed my surroundings. Light gray walls filled with movie and band posters and pictures of teenagers, a desk filled with schoolwork, a bookshelf filled to the brim, a big window bringing in the light breeze. Ah, I was home.

"CASSIA MARIE! I'm not going to call you one more time! It's time to wake up!" I looked over at my alarm clock – 6:45am. I groaned, pulling a pillow over my head. The nerve of my mother. I could have easily slept 20 minutes more. Knowing she would keep pestering me to get up, especially today, I begrudgingly rolled out of bed and walked to my door. Opening my door to yell back at my mom I was up I came face to face with a small, tan fist. I looked at my mom sheepishly, "I'm up mom, I promise."

She sighed at me, trying to hide a smile. "Well if it isn't my beautiful, newly 18-year-old daughter," she exclaimed, tears already forming in her eyes. I rolled my eyes lightly at how emotional she already was but gave her a hug.

"Thanks mom. Count on it to be you to start crying before 7am" I said, moving to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. As I wash brushing my teeth, I made eye contact with my mom through the mirror. "Mom," I warned, noticing the look in her eyes.

She looked at me innocently, a suspicious look on her face. "What?"

"You are acting oddly suspicious. Did dad put something a little extra in the coffee this morning?"

She laughed lightly, lines of happiness rounding her eyes. "No darling, he didn't. Not yet anyway. Can't I just be happy for my only daughter to finally be turning into a young woman?" I turned around and gave her a deadpan look, walking back into my bedroom, my mom hot on my heels. "Don't tell me you forget about tonight."

I made my bed and started to rummage for an outfit to wear to school. Where the hell were my black frayed jeans? "How could I forget about something like tonight when it's the only thing this family has talked about for the last month and a half," I said, finding them hidden underneath a pile of hoodies. I slipped them on, putting on an off the shoulder white sweater.

My mom gasped softly. "Cassia Marie! How can you not be excited? Tonight's the night that you get to meet your one and only, your mate. I remember my 18th just like it was yesterday," She said, sighing dreamily. "I met your father at this beautiful party, much like you will be having tonight, courtesy of the Mason family. It was love at first sight."

"Oh yes it was" A familiar voice said behind us. I turned around to see my father reach and pull my mother into his side affectionately, kissing her on the temple. I smiled softly. To this day, they were as madly in love as they were 22 years ago. My dad moved over and came and gave me a big bear hug, lifting me up. "Happy Birthday Cassie Bug!"
