What's for dinner?
I flopped down on my newly made bed, grabbed my MCR pillow, and sighed. "I am finally unpacked."
Gerard smiled. "Congrats."
Mikey rushed into my room. "Uh, Gee, there's someone at the door for you."
"Uh, ok. I'll be right back," Gerard replied before rushing downstairs.
Mikey sat on my bed. "So, you like it here so far?"
"Wow, you actually acknowledged the fact that I exist. That's a big accomplishment."
"Just shut up and answer the question."
"Yes, I like it here so far. It's better than any foster home I've been to so far. And, it's nice to finally have a place to call home."
"That's good. I hope the rest of your life isn't fucked up."
"Well, thanks. I'm glad you actually acknowledged me, first of all."
"I knew you were here. I just don't talk that much."
"Suuuure."
"No, seriously. But I would like to talk, if that's ok. Sometime, at least."
"Yeah, that's fine. You know, maybe of you would acknowledge that I exist."
"Shut up."
"Make me."
We playfully glared at each other, until it turned into a full-on staring contest. "You blinked," I said after a while.
"No I didn't."
"Uh, yes you did."
"No I didn't."
"Yes you did."
We went back and forth a few times, but he finally gave in. I smiled triumphantly. "See, I'm never wrong."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever."
"What's funny is that I'VE been standing here since the staring contest and neither of you guys noticed me," I heard Gerard say from my doorway, making me jump.
"Holy shit, you scared me!" I yelled.
"Ok, I'm not gonna comment on your language anymore, I really don't give a fuck," he said.
I smiled. "You don't have to. Anyway, what's for dinner?"
"Um, whatever you're in the mood for."
"Uh, what do we have? And am I gonna have to cook? I really don't want to cook."
"Calm down. I'll cook if you help, you can have what you want, and if we need to go to the store we will."
"Ok, well, I should probably get going. Kristin said she was making burritos for dinner," Mikey said.
Gerard and I both said bye before continuing to make the very important decision of what we wanted for dinner. "Seriously, what the fuck do you want for dinner?"
"Oo, I got something! I make these little mini pizzas using Italian sausage for the crust. It's really good, we could try that."
"Ok, so we've gotta go to the store, because I have nothing for pizza."
"Well, let's go then."
I started getting on my shoes as Gerard went over to his room to do the same. Once we both had our shoes on, Gerard grabbed his car keys and we got in the car. "So, who was at the door earlier?" I asked.
"Oh, I had an appointment with my counseler today, and I didn't show up so she stopped by to make sure I was still breathing."
"Why, have you not shown up to appointments before and something was wrong."
"Uh, kinda, yeah. A couple times I had a really bad hangover and I just didn't want to leave."
"And that made her come to the house?"
"Yeah. Anyway, it's not important. So, is your closet big enough?"
"Uh, yeah, I think it's a little too big. I don't really have enough clothes and shoes to fit in a walk-in closet."
"You will when I'm done with you."
"Sure. I need more ripped jeans, for sure, and some more Marvel shirts. Oh, and I'm gonna need to get my roots touched up soon."
"Ok, slow down. Write instead. Give me a list. I will never remember all of this."
"Ok, I'll write one later."
"Ok. Um, by the way, I'm having a friend of mine bring their daughter and her friend over tonight for dinner. They're your age, so I thought you could become friends. You know, so when you go back to school next week you aren't alone."
"Oh, ok. What are their names?"
"His daughter's name it Lily and her friend's name is Gavin."
"Ok. Who is this friend?"
"Uh, I met him at a thing my counselor made me go to. His name's Kyle."
My phone went off. When I checked it, I saw a picture of Josh Dun and his girlfriend Chloe on Instagram. "OMG, finally! Josh proposed to Chloe! I've been waiting for this moment since 2014." (A/N This is the first crossover in this book into another one of my Quartet Chronicles books. This is a reference to my Twenty Øne Piløts fanfic, Twenty Øne Møments with Yøu. If you haven't read it, you should. Anyway, back to the story.)
Gerard looked at my phone. "Oh, I have been too. Chloe is so sweet. I've shipped them forever, I'm glad they're finally gonna get married."
"Wait, you know them?"
"Uh, yeah, Pete Wentz invited me to one of Brendon Urie's Fourth of July parties, and we met there. It was about a year ago."
"OMG, I really wanna meet them."
"Maybe one day."
"Awesome."
"So, what do we need to make these mini sausage pizzas?" he asked as we pulled into the parking lot.
"Um, about two pounds of ground Italian sausage, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and whatever toppings we want."
"Ok. Any topping suggestions?"
"Extra sausage. That's about it."
"Ok, we'll also grab some pepperoni and that'll be good for toppings."
"Ok. Let's go."
We got out of the car and walked into the grocery store. "So, I'm following you, because this is nothing like the Stater Bros back out in Yucaipa," I said.
"No problem. So, just so you know, Lily and Gavin are both really into the bands in something called the Emo Quartet."
"OMG, you've never heard of the Emo Quartet? You're part of it! It's My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, and Twenty Øne Piløts."
"Oh, ok. Are you into all those bands?"
"Duh. I'm not only a Killjoy, but I'm also a Youngblood, a Sinner, and part of the Skeleton Clique."
"What?"
"Ok, let me explain. MCR fans are called Killjoys because of Danger Days, FOB fans are called Youngbloods because of the line in The Phoenix when Patrick says "Hey Youngblood", Panic! fans are called Sinners because of the line in Hallelujah when Brendon says, "All you sinners stand up, sing Hallelujah", and TØP fans are part of the Skeleton Clique because of the Holding on to You music video."
"Ok, now that makes much more sense. Thanks."
"No problem. I also have a slide show on it."
"Really?"
"Yes. It had each fanbase name, why, and then details about the bands. I'll show it to you later."
"Ok, whatever."
So, we talked and shopped. It was pretty fun.
