phil covered his ears, dropping the water can. he could feel his patience wearing thin, and dan's screams didn't seem like they were going to stop anytime soon.
"oh my god, what is that boy on about?" he asked jeremy.
he shrugged. "who knows? doctors even trued sedating him. did jack shit."
"they're fading, they're fading, they're fading! don't let them leave, please! don't let my galaxies go away, bring them back!" daniel shrieked from his cell.
"justin, back story, please!" phil yelled over dan.
justin crawled through phil's ears into his brain so he could be heard. phil dropped his hands and let his eyes close. "his parents beat him from the age of six until they threw him in here," he whispered against the backs of phil's eyeballs, making him shudder. "they would call the marks they'd leave galaxies, as they knew how infatuated daniel was with stars. he's grown attached to them, for the paleness of his skin is unnatural now."
"thank you," phil exhaled gently, feeling justin move out with his breath.
phil felt a pair of lips be pressed against his own and nearly melted, kissing them back. the door to his cell opened, snapping phil out of his daze. his friends all raced back into his mind at once.
"philip, we're going to need you to quiet down, please. we're afraid your yelling may be disturbing dan more," the nurse announced.
phil scowled. "i'm only yelling because no one can hear me over his incessant shrieking,"
the nurse gave him a stern look. "just lower your voice, please."
he rolled his eyes. "fine." he looked out the window. "miss, may i ask where the sun's gone? my plants can't stay alive without her."
the nurse walked to the window, looking out. phil prided in how comfortable other doctors felt around him. he wouldn't hurt them. "it appears that the sun is taking a little rest, phil. she must have grown tired, and that's why the clouds are covering her." phil pouted, his child-like state emerging. "would you like me to turn on the lamp, so they get some baby sun, sweet?"
"yes please, ma'am, thank you."
the nurse walked to phil's plants, greeting them (phil requested that everyone did so upon going to them), and turned on the lamp, the bright light causing phil to squint.
"there we are, then. that alright?" phil nodded, smiling. "perfect. shall i refill this as well? did you drop it?" she leaned down and picked up the water can.
"daniel's shouting was hurting my ears. it fell when i hid my ears," he explained, covering his ears for emphasis.
the woman chuckled. "alright then, i'll get this filled up for you. i'll be right back. don't touch the lamp! you'll burn yourself."
phil nodded valiantly, watching the woman walked out, shutting the door behind her. dan's screams still rang through the halls, making phil pout, but he chose to drown it out by humming a song. a song his mother used to sing him when he was a younger boy. he smiled at the thought of her.
"Here comes a candle to light you to bed, and here comes a chopper to chop off your head-"
suddenly, daniel went silent, and a small smile spread across phil's lips. he walked to the door and looked out the small window. justin walked out of dan's room, a dark look on his face. phil's eyes narrowed, and he turned and walked back to the window, looking out.
"chip, chop, chip, chop, the last one is dead,"
