The screams and cries of pain echoed through the halls like the past regrets in my mind. I slowly got up and looked around but it was too dark, I couldn’t see anything. I felt around the room until I felt something that I guessed was a flashlight and picked it up. Then I felt around until I felt a switch and turned it on, a beam of light appeared piercing the darkness like a sword piercing skin.

I was in a dark grey room with a wooden table, a metal shelf, and a dead body. Slowly I walked out careful not to be heard by anyone who might be in the building. The layout had felt familiar and alien at the same time. “A dead body can’t be a good sign,” I thought as I traversed the dark hallways.

As I wandered, I started to become more familiar with the layout. The walls were a faded white color, with the corners peeling off due to age. Then I heard something's large and heavy feet slaming against the cool and smooth floor tiles. “I guess it’s just my imagination,” I thought casually as I continued walking.

I racked my brain to remember why I’m here, yet I couldn’t come up with any reason why; I couldn’t even remember my own name.

I kept walking until I heard the sound of something steady yet loudly moving, I started to panic and  I looked around desperately for somewhere to hide, I couldn’t find anywhere until I saw a table so I rushed over to it and crawled under it. I saw the unnatural shape of the lower half of a creature morphed into something horrifying   by the darkness, I felt shivers run down my spine as it started to move in my direction.

I had my flashlight off causing everything in pitch black so everything seemed louder to me, eventually I heard the sounds fade away and I decided it was okay to come out and I crawled out from under the table and took in my surroundings. There was a table with a computer on it and a chair and the walls were white. There was also a fan, a calendar on the wall in front of the table, a small grey box with a switch and an outlet, plug, cord, and a fairly old phone.

I sat down in the chair and turned on the computer, when it turned on I saw an average computer desktop, I saw a security application and reminded myself to look at it later, then I clicked on the email icon. The email page had several new messages and I clicked on the most recent one. It said: "you can’t hide your dirty little secrets for much longer john."

“Well at least I have a name of someone that’s connected to this place,” I muttered to myself as a clicked the back arrow on the screen. Then I decided to close out of the page and clicked the security icon. After it loaded I was greeted to several images of different places in the building.

Then I had the brilliant idea to check the voicemail on the phone. “You have one new message” the phone said before beeping, I clicked the button that made the message play. “Well this message is for any poor soul that is stuck in this place, you shouldn’t have came here, but since you did it’s my job to help you stay alive. You might have seen one of ‘them’ before and if you're listening to this and you’ve seen one of ‘them’ that means you're alive which means you're on the right track, but there’s some things you should know.

"The building may have power but it’s limited so be careful with the power you use. You may have also seen a small grey box with a switch on it, that’s for a temporary system reboot for the animatronics, just find the animatronic you want to use it on and flip the switch and it should work. The three setbacks is the animatronics will turn on again after a little bit, it has limited energy, and there's one animatronic that becomes more aggressive when you use it and it won’t work on that one. For that one we have another solution, just press the lights button on the desk and you should be good, just don’t take too long. You’ll see that there’s an animatronic who becomes more active in the dark, the children call him shadow-bear because of the color of his fur. Well that is about it, um bye,” the person on the phone said.
