Yeah, James was out in the boiling sun, but it was better than being bored to death. He didn't have time for sunscreen, so he just took an umbrella. James always thought about current issues. Skin embedded anti-sunburn tech did exist, but was much too costly. Even more so than cars.
James continued to walk and walk. Once you get over the blinding sun, the outdoors can be peaceful. And mysterious. James would see strange things as he walked along. It should be expected, as most people don't like to be outside. That leaves only the strange ones. The homeless, the rich (who have access to convenient UV protection), and the just plain insane ones, like the one James was about to come face-to-face with.
