Alice and Harry froze, eyes wide, blinking furiously just to make sure they were still on Earth. "Did you just-", Alice was too shocked to finish her sentence. The snake nodded. "You can understand us?", Harry and Alice asked in sync. The snake nodded once more. "Yessssssss."
"Look! Look what they're doing!" Dudley ran towards the display and pushed the two onto the cold ground. Alice's face was definitely as red as her hair, Harry's face was just as red too. The next moment, Dudley waved his arms over the 'glass' and fell face-first into the water below the snake. He started to scream as the boa constrictor slid over his belly and off the display. "Sssee you, amigosss." The snake slithered out of the reptile house, frightening the visitors and security guards. Alice had to let out a laugh as Aunt Petunia cried over her drenched baby boy. Harry just smiled, it was very amusing!
The fun stopped to find Uncle Vernon towering over them, his face deep purple once again.

"We don't know how it happened!" Alice cried. Uncle Vernon pulled the two by the collars to the cupboard below the stairs. "It was like magic!" Harry added. They were thrown onto the single bed and the door shut in front of them. A slot on the door opened, revealing Uncle Vernon's beady eyes. "There is no such thing as magic," he hissed and slid the opening shut.
They let out a long sigh and slumped onto the bed. Looks like they're not having supper again...

The morning letters arrived through the front door and Alice picked them up, scanning through the bills sent for Mr. Dursley. But as she reached the end of the lot, there were two letters that looked quite peculiar to her. Tinted with yellow, a blood red seal on the envelope's mouth decorated with some sort of logo; a lion, snake, badger and eagle sitting on each quarter. There was writing on the front;
Miss. A. & Mr. H. Potter
The Cupboard under the Stairs
4 Privet Drive
Little Whinging
Surrey
Alice stared at it. They never got letters from anyone, hardly. It seemed too good to be true. She thought of throwing them away, but why should she? Still eyes locked at the two letters, Alice strode into the dining room and carefully laid Harry's in front of him. As they were about to peel off the seal Dudley crept up behind the two, in his maroon and orange Smeltings uniform, and snatched the letters off Harry and Alice.
"Harry and Alice got letters!" Dudley yelled at the top of his lungs. Harry chased him around the dining table, with the knobbly Smeltings stick smacking his head. Uncle Vernon grasped the letters off Dudley and ushered Aunt Petunia to his side. Their eyeballs looked like they were going to pop out when they read the heading.

The weekend morning came by and the slot on the front door was blocked by a wooden plank planted with nails. Harry and Alice knew exactly why Uncle Vernon had done so. More letters were flying in from all sorts places around the house; the back door, the window, under the front door. Vernon had a pile of letters, tossing them into the burning fireplace while Aunt Petunia chucked a few into the blender. Dudley paid no attention to this as he was watching shows on his new television. Harry and Alice still couldn't figure out what the letters were about and why they kept on arriving.
***
"Ah, Sunday, my favourite day! You know what happens on Sunday?" Uncle Vernon took a bite from his biscuit. He seemed to be getting a bit mental lately. "No mail is delivered on Sundays? " Alice answered. "Correct! No damn letters on Sundays!" As Uncle Vernon continued rambling on about mail, talking as much Aunt Petunia would about the neighbours, Harry peeked through the curtains and out the window. Owls were perched all over the neighbourhood; the driveway, fence, roofs and antennas.
Suddenly, a low rumble shook the living room. The sound grew louder and the sound of paper piped through the chimney. Uncle Vernon forgot to block the chimney! Thousands of yellow parchment burst through of the fireplace and into the living room. The letters flew around the area like confetti. Harry and Alice jumped onto the sofas, trying to reach for a letter. Vernon chased the two as they ran for the cupboard, but they were too late. Vernon grabbed them by their sweaters. He looked like he was about to explode!
"That's it. Pack your bags, we're getting out of here!"
