"Jade! Jade! JADE!" " Ahh!" Jade jumped from her seat and hit her head on the roof of the car. "Ow, what? What happened?" "We're here!" Brook said excitedly. "Come on lets go!" Opening her side of the car, Brook got out first and Jade did the same thing, stretching  while already outside. "Bye you two!" Their mom called out to them. "Bye mom! See you later!" Brook waved goodbye as their mom drove away. "You're so rude Jade." Brook crossed her arms over her chest. "Does it look like I care?" Jade just walked away while accidentally  bumping into Brook's shoulder. "I sometimes ask myself why we had to be twins." Brook muttered to herself walking up to the entrance of their school.

"Jacob?"

"Here!"

"Luis?"

"Present!"

"Brooklyn?"

"...."

"Brooklyn!"

"Huh? Oh here!" The teacher rolled her eyes and continued calling attendance. "Jade?" "Here!" Everyone turned their heads towards the door and saw Jade running in, panting. "I-I'm *pant* here! *pant* D*mn, I really need to work out more." Everyone giggled at her remark. "Language!" The teacher glared at her. "You're tardy on the first day back, typical." Jade rolled her eyes and sat down in her assigned seat, next to Brook. "Why did you come late? Last time I checked you walked into school before me." Brook whispered. Jade rolled her eyes again. "I was doing... something." "Mhm, sure." "Jade! Brooklyn!" The teacher had a hand on her hip and was tapping her foot from all the frustration. "What?" Jade was starting to get annoyed. "Can you and Brooklyn answer this question?" She pointed at the board, "Sure, whatever." "Ok then, come up to the board and answer it." Everyone started snickering, Jade got up and took the marker from the teacher. The question was: How have the people of Venice, Italy adapted to their environment?  10 minutes had passed and Jade had not written a single word. "10 minutes have passed and you haven't even moved!" Jade shrugged, "Sorry Ms. Thomas, but I don't know the answer." She smiled innocently. "Go sit down, Brooklyn come and answer this question please." Ms. Thomas handed the marker to her. "The people in Venice, Italy have adapted to their environment by building canoes to get around in the water." Ms. Thomas sighed in relief. "Thank you, you can go sit down now." Once she got back to her seat, Jade leaned over and whispered, "Why do you have to be such a smarta**?" Brook just rolled her eyes and smiled. "It wasn't that hard."  Jade huffed and sat back down. "Ok, now that, that's over I have some announcements." Silence took over immediately. "Since you all came back from winter break and it's the last two weeks of the first semester, we have finals coming up on Friday." Everyone groaned, "And after these two weeks are over, second semester is going to begin, meaning it's going to be S.TA.A.R season. (S.T.A.A.R are district tests defining how much you know about each subject you took. And it is also needed to graduate.)  "Aww man, I hate those." Everyone started complaining about that it's barely the first day back and that they have to take tests. "Ok, calm down everyone!" They just kept on bickering. "Silence!" You could probably hear crickets after that.
