In reality, I"m just a fragile scrap of glass tottering on the very edge of a granite counter top;poised to plummet toward the ground and shatter into millions of pieces.

I ambulated out of the shadows once I had arrived outside. My slim fingered hand instinctively patted my right back pocket to assure myself that my minuscule leather bound photo album was still safely inside the jean's pocket. If I lost my album I swear, I would start bawling my eyed out.

I'm not as strong as you may think I am. In reality, I'm just a fragile scrap of glass tottering on the very edge of a granite counter top;poised to plummet toward the ground and shatter into millions of pieces.

My boots crunched against the leaves scattered on the ground as I walked down the streets of Jersey City, NJ. The trees were changing beautifully. I think the season of Autumn was my favorite season of the four. Winter was my second favorite, and Spring my third.

My favorite thing about Autumn was the leaves changing on the trees.

The way they suddenly turned from a boring green to a vibrant red and orange was so fascinating to me.

And when the sidewalk had bright warm colored leaves scattered everywhere. That time where it wasn't too cold like Winter, but not so hot either. You could see your breath in the cool, crisp air.

The bright leaves fell from the tree branches and delicately swirled in the air.

And street vendors selling warm bread and apple cider.

Gods...Autumn was just so beautiful.

My hands rubbed my pale bare arms quickly to keep them warm. I had lost my jacket a while ago so all I had was my tee shirt to keep me warm. Oh, of course. I forgot to include my moldy worn out blanket. How could I forget something so important? In case you're an idiot who can't detect sarcasm...well...that was sarcasm.

As I neared a vacant parking lot, I heard a yelp. It was a boy's voice. Then rough voices started talking...and then a few punches were thrown into what I was hearing and someone falling down onto the asphalt. Without any hesitation I started to run toward the vacant parking lot, boots slapping down on the concrete pavement. Time to play "hero" again.

I sharply rounded a corner...a little too hard thought because I almost skidded into a tree. But with my reflexes, I dodged to the left, narrowly avoiding the big tree in the way. Why the Hades was there a tree there anyway?! Shaking my head, I continued to speed to the lot.

Finally, when I reached the vacant lot I was kind of out of breath. Taking short, haggard breaths, I tried to stand up straight and ignore the stickiness of my shirt. I pushed a stray strand of dark hair behind my ear before taking a look at the scene.

There were three older looking boys;maybe fifteen sixteen standing there. One of the boys, who was obviously the "leader" looked at me. His gaze lingered for a few more extra beats then there should have been, before he turned back to the kid, probably fourteen, my age, sprawled on the ground. Clutching his gut with one arm, and holding his eye with his other hand on the opposite arm.

The "leader", who had brilliant golden blonde hair looked at me once more."What do you want?"I noticed that his gaze loitered down to my chest. What a-okay...I'll keep my thoughts as bad-word-free as I can.

"Leave him alone, will you?"To much of my surprise, my voice wasn't out of breath at all...or too soft or stuttering. My voice came out as confident and clear.

"Not a chance"Blondie smiled brightly. Maybe most girls would melt because of this dude's charm and looks. But i'm not like most girls. And this guy was kind of annoying how he kept looking down there..and beating up some guy?! C'mon dude. You can do better than that.

"Well then"I smiled back sweetly before jutting my hip to the side and crossing my arms, indicating I was NOT going anywhere.

"Ah,"The guy smirked."Stubborn, huh?"

"Yes...it took you all that time to finally figure that out?"I scoff."Wow"

Mr.Hotshot here frowned suddenly and growled out"This doesn't concern you...chick"

Chick?! What the heck?! Why would he call me a CHICK?! I am NOT a freaking young bird! How dare he!"Excuse me?!"

"You heard me..babe"He just said that to annoy me. Ugh. How infuriating.

"Quit that!"I scowled, annoyed.

"Are you going to leave or not. I don't have time for this"He finally said, done being aggravating I see.

"What does it look like?"I slightly tilted my head to the side.

"Okay then. We''ll make you leave"He smirked, ready for this. If you weren't paying attention before, I'm good at reading people's emotions. It has nothing to do with me being a demigod or whatsoever. It's just a normal thing I can do that tons of people can do. Anyways, I could see Blondie was going to think this was going to be easy.

Oh gods...was he wrong..
