Heartless

   It was James Scott's first day back in his house since his parents death
and the cops still hadn't found the killer. James was gone on spring break and his parents insisted on staying home instead of going to California with him. He always worried about them but he couldn't tell them that. Mr. and Mrs. Scott were very independent even at the ages of fifty and fourty-six. The night before he left for California he begged his parents to come with. He told them that they could stay in the hotel room if they wanted. They refused so James said fuck it. He didn't want to argue before he left for break.
   The sixth day after he had arrived he got a call for the Chief of police. The Chief said "I'm so sorry James but your parents were killed last night." James was heartbroken and furious. He replied through his tears " what do you mean they were killed?!" Who would want to kill them thought James. "I'm sorry James they didn't deserve it." Said Chief Parker. " What the hell happened to them?" Asked James. "They were in bed about to go to sleep when the killer broke in the backdoor, your dad went down to see what the noise was and they killer stabbed him in the back of his neck. Then he took out your fathers heart." Said Chief Parker. "Who in the hell would want to kill my parents!" Screamed James. James knew that his father had a few enemies, but none of them would go this far... would they? Mr.Scott was a large business owner he had the usual rivalries. Mainly small business owners that wanted him to stop expanding. That is where the issues started, Mr.Scott had a family to support. He can't just shut down his business. James knew that, which has to do with why he was so worried about his father. He knew his father was tough but his dad didn't know when to stop. Mr.Scott wouldn't stop until he won. Until he was the best and largest packaging business owner in all of Nebraska.
