Lies Part 2 (ending one)

-3 days later-

Rythian woke up at his desk, for the first time in a week he took his eyes off of his book and look around the camp. The one thing that caught his eye, it was the back off Zoey's head sitting on the same sand dune she sat at when she had the encounter with Lalna. He got up from the chair he practically lived in and walked over to her, she didn't hear him walk up but the minute he sat down she practically jumped on him and wrapped him in a hug, he was caught by surprise as the girl talked him the ground and cried tears of joy "your back" she whispered, he laughed a little and sat up, Zoey let go and grinned at him "Never do that again" she said more seriously wiping the tears from her eyes "where did I go exactly?" he asked puzzled, Zoey fell dead serious and looked him in the eyes "You don't know? Rythian you started studying and you didn't stop for a week, you wouldn't take your mind or your eyes off those books. you basically became a zombie" she explained upset at him, he looked shocked "really, I-I'm sorry" he apologised "you better be, from know on you can't study unless I can be there for you" she informed, he looked at her and sighed "Zoey, I need to study, this is to keep you safe" Zoey started to burn red, she felt upset with him "I don't need you to protect me" she mumbled "I know you don't but.... I don't want to lose you again"

Zoey felt angrier but swallowed it down "Rythian, please. just don't work so hard... I need you as much as you need me" she explained "I know that... but after the nuke I just can't help but think of your safety, I need to protect you meaning I need to find some new kind of magic to do this" that did it, Zoey didn't want to be seen as someone who needed protecting "I don't need you protection, I can fight for myself and maybe the nuke wouldn't of gone off if I had you by my side, do you know how afraid I was being in there alone!" she shouted, she activated her flying ring and flew off towards the trees.

Rythian just sat there in shock, he didn't know what to say...

he turned in his ring and flew after her. it took a while but he found her, sitting on the edge of the creator that sat were their home once stood, he flew down towards her "Zoey I..." he started unsure of what to say "Save it, I don't want you to see me as just some girl who needs protecting, I can keep myself safe I have done it before" she explained, she didn't look at him but instead looked down at the centre of the creator "Do you really feel... that it would have helped if I was there... by your side with the nuke" the Mage asked "of course I do, no matter how dark and scary things got I felt I could always trust you... to be by my side and make me feel brave, being in that force field alone made me feel the exact opposite, and when you zoned out into your books I felt the same fear, that you couldn't be there for me, that I couldn't rely on you" Zoey explained, she had to wipe a tear from her eye as she remembered to fear "Zoey.... I'm sorry. I will always be there for you, if your afraid you can just come to me because i.... i see you as my best friend. I would trust you with my life, and if you want to be trusted to protect yourself that is fine, I promise I won't study as much but I need to know.... what do you want. Do you want me to protect you, or to support you" Zoey paused "I want you to tell me... tell me you love me, I want to hear it at least once"

Rythian was hesitant, but then he took Zoey's hand into his "let me show you something" he stood up with her and held her into his arms, he flew into the centre creator and let her out of his grasps

"This is the exact spot I found your body after the nuke, words could not explain my sorrow and despair, I felt like I should have been the one to die, that you were it innocent to have died, I took you in my arms and I held you close, and for the first time since... almost forever, I cried. you are the only one that can stop me from hurting people. I used every bit of magic I had to revive you, from there I took you into hospital. again I couldn't begin to describe how I felt when you opened your eyes, when you showed signs of life, when I knew I was able to save you. Zoey, if you want to hear me tell you I love you, then your delusional, I don't love you" these words broke her heart, she felt like dying there and then but he continued

"love wouldn't even begin to describe how I feel about you.... I don't love you, because love is temporary... but I will feel the way I feel about you until the day I die"

with that he lent down, pulled down his mask and kissed her on the lips, she felt shocked but pleased, she smiled into the kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck, he pulled her closer to him until he could feel her heart beat...

he pulled away and looked at her "Zoey, don't you ever think I only 'love' you, when I would relive all the pain and misery I have ever experience, I would feel the pain of 1000 blades surge through my body 10 times over, I would jump off the highest cliff.... I would do anything. just to spend a day with you"
