I enter Ketterdam High feeling off, like something new will happen. I'll have to ask Inej what's going on when she arrives. Second week of senior year, perfect. I can hear Nina and Matthias arguing from down the hall and head to the foreign exchange room. The dregs, as we're called, are all foreign exchange students. Nina is Spanish, Matthias is Russian, Inej is Indian, Jesper is South African, and I'm English.

I head into the classroom seeing Nina, Matthias, Jesper and Haskell. Nina and Matthias are arguing as usual, I take my regular seat in the back shady corner Haskell watching my every step- or limp. My infamous crow headed cane echoes off of the tile floor.

As I sit down I feel a presence enter the room yet no sound is made and no one else seems to realize that someone else has come in- Inej. I watch as she gracefully makes her way over to me, climbing on top of the cabinet to the left of my desk, silent as a still heartbeat.

I look up at her and she understands right away, hopping down from the cabinet and onto the desk right in front of mine. " A new boy's joined Ketterdam, Wylan Van Eck. He was kicked out of five different schools, he'll be in foreign exchange, he's Canadian. Rich CEO father, mother no where to be seen, and get this the dad knows one of your favorite teachers- Mr. Rollins." Inej tells me, twisting around her seat to properly face me.

I'm about to respond when I see a young looking boy enter the room and head over to Haskell's desk. I notice that Jesper is watching him with unusual interest. Noted.

Nina and Matthias pause their argument to watch the new guy, Wylan. There's a shadow right outside the door, tall and stocky, Rollins. Keeping a tab on Wylan.

I sit back and see where this goes, Inej watching right there with me.
