Chapter 28: I Can't Lose Him Too

"Kayleah, do you want breakfast?" Sphintus, Aladdin's roommate asked.

"Nope I'm good, I'm not hungry," I replied.

"All right then, join us for lunch okay?" He said.

"I'll think about it," I muttered. He looked at me in disbelief, but did not go on further, instead he left the room.

I stared at Aladdin's sleeping body and sighed. "Please wake up Aladdin..."

It had only been a day since the incident, but I couldn't help but be worried. What if he never woke up? What would I do? He was the only family I had left, I don't want to lose him too. I held onto his hand and chanted a spell to transfer my magoi to him. It didn't matter if it'll kill me, just wake up my brother.

Not again.

I was not going to see my family die in front of me again.

Aladdin, you have to live.

I have to make sure of that.

I promised Mother.

That I will protect you.

So don't.

Ever appear hurt in front of me.

Or I might break...

I gaze at Aladdin's sleeping body, anger fuelling me from inside but there was nothing I could do but wait, pray that he would wake up.

"I'm different from... everyone here..." I heard Aladdin's words whilst in mid slumber. I immediately got up when I heard his voice.

"Ah! Kayleah did I wake you up?" Aladdin gasped.

Tears filled my eyes as I stared at Aladdin. He was alive... Thank god... I hugged him tightly.

"Ah! Kayleah? What's wrong? Did I worry you that badly? I'm sorry..." Aladdin muttered as he patted me.

"Idiot! Don't do this to me! I can't take anymore of my family dying!" I shouted. "Yeah! I was worried! So worried I could die!"

"I'm sorry, Kayleah..." Aladdin apologised time and time again even though I knew it was not his fault. It was Titus' fault. Slowly, I let go of Aladdin and sighed.

"Please be more careful..." I groaned. "I'm just glad I arrived in time and I could heal you quickly..."

"Thanks for healing me Kayleah," Aladdin thanked me with a smile. I gave a weak smile. Given that I had been giving him my magoi to quicken the healing process, I was feeling a little weak. Aladdin seemed to have noticed my tired eyes and gave me a worried look. "Are you okay?"

I nodded, not wanting to worry him. "I just used a bit too much of magoi to heal you..."

"What?! Why did you do that Kayleah?!" Aladdin asked in a panic.

"It's worth it, if it meant I could save you, it doesn't matter..." I muttered.

"Why would you do this for me?" Aladdin asked.

"Because..." I mutter half asleep as I rested my head on his bed again. "I can't lose you too..."

Aladdin's POV

Kayleah fell asleep quickly... I wonder what she was talking about... She can't lose me too? Who has she lost before and why doesn't she want to lose me so desperately to give me her magoi? We haven't known each other for that long, sure we are friends but that is not a logically explanation for sacrificing herself for me... I am so confused...

As I stared at her sleep, I couldn't help but feel something out of the ordinary about her. I had always thought she was oddly overpowered for a normal magician. Ah wait she is a magi right? However, it is still against the world's laws that Solomon set for this world. There can never be more than three magis. I am the only exception...

Then something hit me. What if I am not the only exception? 

The door suddenly opened and I looked up in shock to see Titus standing at the door. "I have to talk to you." I nodded and he walked towards a chair opposite my bed awkwardly. 

I wonder what's wrong with Titus... He suddenly came to visit me in the middle of the night... I wonder if it is alright for him to leave the "Imprisonment"...

"Your injuries..." He suddenly started to talk. "Are your injuries... alright now? I heard a restoration magic healed you, but..."

"Ah... Yes! My friend, Kayleah, here healed me. Thanks to that, I am alright now," I replied.

"Kayleah... Is the scary one who was gonna attack me right?" Titus started shaking in fear.

"Um yeah..." Aladdin gave an awkward laugh.

"I attacked you... Not during a duel between fellow magicians... But when you were not putting up any resistance... She had every reason to be angry at me... I'm really... sorry." Titus said.

"... It's okay," I smiled at him in reply. Didn't he come here to talk about "that thing"?... That gem on his arm...

"Yunan... or Judal from The Kou Empire... You are the subordinate of one of them right?" Titus asked.

"Subordinate?" I asked, rather confused.

"I'm a magician who received a secret mission... From the Reim Empire's Magi, Lady Scheherazade," Titus introduced himself.

I see... so he wasn't a magi huh... I'm a little disappointed...

Titus pulled down his sleeve and revealed his gem. "And this is the proof. With this stone, I'm connected to the magi of my homeland, and i can talk with her."

So it was only something that looked like the rukh's eye huh... Seems like I jumped to the wrong conclusions.

"Hey! You are like me right?!" Titus asked frantically.

What do I do?... Is it okay to deceive him?

"I... think it is a good thing... To be honest, i felt a little anxious. I received an extremely important mission in order to protect the Reim Empire and came alone to this country. I didn't  even know how to behave... And it is not like I can ask someone about those things... At that time, when you revealed yourself, i thought... 'What if he is someone like me, who is acting under the command of another magi?' That's why... I beg you to tell me who you are!" Titus pleaded.

Seeing him like this. I couldn't help but say the truth. "Okay! I'm a magi. As a magi, I came to this country to investigate both the ominous weapons that are probably created here and the relations between those who are magicians and those who aren't in this country... No magi is commanding me. I'm a magi myself! Is this enough for you?"

KAYLEAH'S POV

I was awake as they chatted, but I didn't want to butt in and just listened in on them. But Aladdin... Why did you forgive him so easily? I for one can't find myself forgiving him...

Sorry for the long af delay, I have been kinda procrastinating since I wasn't really up to writing this scene. It felt boring to write, but after I saw so many people wanting me to update, I was kinda motivated to get a chapter out haha. The next chapter might still take a while though cause my finals are coming in less than 60 days... Wells, we are reaching an exciting part so I can't wait to write that part. Till then~
