The presence in the room was comfortable, yes. But out of habit I nervously started to fidget and spin my ring on my right index finger that I got from Baba on my 18th birthday. He told me there was more to my life than I really knew. But he also said he would tell me more about it when the time was right. So I let it be, for now.
"Well aren't you going to quit playing hide and seek and show yourself or what?" I waited a few seconds for anything to happen. Nothing.
"Wow, I really must be really going crazy. Papa is not going to like having a lunatic of a daughter. Nor is Aunt Tati a lunatic of a niece." I mumble in Russian. I hear a very faint chuckle from the corner of the room. I spin my head in that direction. Nothing. Whoever is doing this is being cruel.
I let down my mental walls just enough to see if any spirit magic is used. I look in that corner again. In the corner is a blurred out man standing there. Watching me. I saw a glow around his right index finger. I assume from a charmed ring.
" Kizim it's time to go." My father said as he walked in with Aunt Tati in tow. I nodded my head and walk two steps towards them. I suddenly sprint at the man and ripped the ring off of his finger. He appeared in front of me. I slapped him across the face.
"Enjoy the show!!!" I yelled at the strange man. I turn to face Baba.
" I told you no more spies, Baba!! No! More! I will not be followed and watched like a child! I won't do it not any longer! I mean, damn! I can take care of myself! Can't I?" He seemed shocked by me yelling at him. He didn't know what I was talking about.
I face the strange man. His ring was still in my hand. I feel the spirit coming off of it. It felt familiar to me. Not her. Not Adrian. It was Ivan Zeklos. Ivan is a very close friend of mine and Lissa's. Or was Lissa's, it's going to be hard to get that through my head. Was not is. Anyway, Ivan is another spirit user. He is a few years older than me, 4 years if I remember correctly. But, never the less, a very good friend. He likes to be helpful. He had helped Lissa and I get used to spirit and its more negative effects.
Looking into the weird man's eyes. A dark chocolate color.
" Ivan.........Ivan Zeklos helped you! He charmed this! You can't lie to me. I feel part of his aura spilling from this...t-this damn ring!" I stuttered. I then groaned. I was losing my temper. Really fast. I walk over to the table where my phone was. I go through my contacts and find Ivan's number. I press call. I was really impatient today. I began tapping foot on the ground. I hear my phone ring a few times. Ring ring ring.
" Well well well, Ivan being helpful as usual. Aren't we? Helping father watch over me like a child!" I yell in Turkish.
" Hmm Rose, how lovely to hear your voice again." He spoke in Turkish to match me. I can just practically see the sarcastic venom run out of his mouth with every word he spoke.
"But yes I did help someone watch over you during this very hard time." I was confused. Very confused. I look over to the man. His face was blank without expression. I know that face anywhere. He is a guardian but whose? I walk back to him and give him back at the ring just after I look at it. It matches mine that is on my index finger.
" who the hell is he? I know Baba most of sent him. Didn't he?" Now I look over to Baba. He was just as confused as I was. I glance at my Aunt. She has an amused and all-knowing look on her elegant and aged face.
"Never mind, Ivan. I'm sorry I yelled at you. It's rough for me without her. But thank you for trying to understand." I apologize in English. Turkish is really tiring me. I sit on the hospital bed.
