*Short chapter but I haven't published in forever so I feel like I need to put something out there. More to come I promise. It just takes time!*

Rose POV

I waltzed into Guardian Croft's Office as if I owned the place with my head high and with an easily notable body language that screamed 'confidence and stability'. On the outside, I looked like the old Rose or at least I hope I did to him for the time being. I needed this forever familiar attitude to cover me. I feared for myself if I didn't keep up this persona of a person that has their shit together. Well, I really don't. On the inside, I was a mirror ready to fall to the ground in tiny shattered pieces. Although, hiding my emotions and looking put together tends to be easy considering my upbringing and guardian training.

A focused Croft was sitting at his presidential looking desk with a few small stacks of paperwork splayed in front of him. Confirming charges to guardians and finalizing shift rosters no doubt. I assumed he heard my footsteps because he looked up from his work and sort of dropped his pen.

"Rose, what an unexpected visit. It's been too long!" He said sounding nearly surprised.

"Hans, it's so great to see you. It has been a little while hasn't it?" I said. He simply nodded and then frowned.

"I heard what happened. I am so sorry for your lose, Rose" His voice was so sincere. Besides family, Croft knew how close Lissa and I was. Even though my time as a guardian has been short I quickly became very respected in the community. So, me being friends with Hans, the Head Guardian of the American Royal Court wasn't too shocking for others.

" Well, yes it has been difficult. That is sort of the reason I'm here." I said firmly.

"If you're here to make hasty decisions, now wouldn't be the time Rose. You're going through a tough time. You make regret them later." Croft said. Wow. He knows me well.

"Yes, I'm here to make a decision but I don't think it's hasty. I've thought about it a lot actually." I said. He didn't look too sure but didn't say anything.

"I want to dissolve my guardianship. I have no wish to guard anyone else. With that being the case I'll be useless." I continued.
