I was sent on vacation for two weeks and got home at noon the next day. When I walked in, I smiled at what I saw.
Aka was sound asleep on the couch, Lami sleeping on her chest. I felt my heart melt at the sight. Aka's mouth hung open slightly and her head fell back over the armrest, exposing her throat. I smirked when I saw her camera sitting on the end table. Carefully, I picked it up and took a step back. I held up the camera and snapped a picture of my two beauties.
I set the camera down and Aka's eyes fluttered open.
"Oh, honey. You're home early." She said with a yawn. I smiled and kissed her forehead.
"Vacation for two weeks begins now." I said. She smiled.
"Finally. Some rest and relaxation." She said with a giggle. I smiled and kissed her cheek. I heard the baby squeak. I hushed her and stroked her soft cheek.
"She's been crying all morning. I finally got her to sleep about ten." Aka said. I sat down beside her and pulled Lami in to my arms carefully, making sure she was still asleep.
"You go make some lunch. I'll keep her asleep." I said. She kissed my cheek.
"I love you." She said. I smiled and kissed her.
"I love you, too." I said. I laied back, keeping Lami on my chest. She let out a small whine, so I started to stroke her back. She went back to sleep.
After Aka and I ate lunch, we decided to take a family nap. We lied in bed, Lami sleeping on my chest, Aka cuddled in to my side. I didn't really want to sleep, but at the same time I did.
I was exhausted from the work load over the weeks. But, Lami and Aka just looked so sweet as they slept. I stroked Lami's back softly, giving her the comforting feeling. I rubbed the small of Aka's back as I held her to me. I closed my eyes and let sleep take me.
A few hours later, I was awoken by Lami's screaming cry. Aka sat up and reached over to take her.
"I got her, Aka-ya. You rest up a little more." I said and kissed her cheek. She nodded, to tired to argue with me, and lied back down. I stood up and cradled Lami, carrying her out of the room so Aka could sleep. I went to change her diaper, but she still cried. She refused when I tried to get her to eat.
"What's wrong, baby girl? You're okay." I hummed and stroked her cheek. I immediately frowned.
"Maybe you're not okay." I muttered and grabbed the baby thermometer. My gut cringed at how high her fever was.
"Aka-ya!" I called. Aka came running in to the room.
"What is it? What's wrong?" She asked. Her silver eyes were wide and her hair was messy from both sleeping and running.
"She's got a high fever, we've got to get her to the hospital, now." I said. Aka jammed her feet in some near by slippers and pulled on her jacket, tucking Lami inside as I called Dr. Alastor D Lilith.
"Kira-ya, Lami's got a high fever. Aka-ya and I are bringing her over now." I informed her.
"Oh, god, poor baby! I'll have a room ready for her. Genesis! Prepare a room for the Trafalgar family." She said from the other side.
We made it to the hospital. Dr. Alastor D Lilith checked Lami out.
"She's got a cold." She told us.
"I can give her a few injections and I can give you her baby medicine." She said. I nodded. Aka was letting Lami hold her finger. Lami had finally stopped crying, but I knew it wouldn't last long when Dr. Alastor D Lilith gave her that injection.
As I predicted, Lami was screaming when she got her shot. Aka soothed our baby girl as Dr. Alastor D Lilith gave me the instructions for her medicine. After Lami was finally calm and we cleared up that she didn't have any allergic reactions to the injection, we took her home.
While Aka kept her soothed and fed her, I washed all of her bedding and wiped out her crib, making sure things were disinfected.
Aka went and gave Lami a bath to help make her feel better, then laid her down for a nap on our bed. I laid beside my baby girl and kept an eye on her.
"Law, honey, you can step away for a minute, you know." Aka said softly. I shook my head.
"I'm going to stay here and make sure she's okay." I said. She leaned down and kissed my cheek.
"You are such a good daddy." Aka said. I smiled at her.
"All because of you." I said. She smiled and kissed me softly.
"I love you, so much." She said.
"I love you, too." I said. I turned my head back to my sleeping baby. I stroked her cheek softly. She let out a soft coo in her sleep. I smiled at her.
"My precious baby girl." I sighed softly.
A few days later, Lami was back up to full health. She was back to her happy, giggly self. She was lying on a blanket on her back in front of me, in her small teddy bear onesie. She giggled happily up at me. Bepo sat by my legs, watching the baby. His tail was wagging happily. Lami tilted to the side and stretched her arms out to the side, reaching for Bepo. The dog lowered his head and Lami put her hands on his snout. She giggled and spluttered at him. His tail wagged faster and her licked her hand. She squealed and laughed as I picked her up.
"Come here, Bepo." I said. Bepo stood infront of me and I set Lami in a sitting position on his back. She let out happy squeals and squawks as Bepo and I walked her to the kitchen where Aka was. Aka smiled happily when she saw us.
"My goodness, look at you! Are you playing with Daddy and your best friend?" She cooed. Lami squeaked and leaned forward, rubbing her face on Bepo's back while still holding my fingers.
"She's growing up so fast." Aka sighed. I lifted Lami up in to my arms.
"My little princess isn't so little anymore." I said.
"Da!" She said and smacked my cheek. Aka laughed at the antics and kissed Lami's cheek, then mine.
"I really am the happiest man alive. I've got a beautiful wife and an adorable daughter, a good dog, a good job and a good home. What more could I ask for?" I sighed. Aka giggled at me.
"You're so cheesy." She said.
"Well, I guess it's good that you like cheese." I said. She rolled her eyes at me.
"Booo. No using Dawn jokes!" She teased. Lami giggled and smacked my cheek again.
