"As for me, I would seek God, and to God would I commit my cause, who does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number" (Job 5:8-9 ESV)
When I was in highschool, I was wondering who God was. People spoke of him. They prayed and sang hymns to him. We studied about God. People quoted verses from the bible.
I was born in a Catholic family. when I was a baby, a priest poured water on my head, he declared that I was Catholic. This was their tradition and practice. If you were born into a Catholic Family, so automatically, you're Catholic.
In highschool, I was part of the Student Catholic Action. We studied all about being Catholic. We should know everything, why we do things and why we believe things.
I remembered, my teachers were saying that the bible was just a literature and shouldn't be taken so literally. We studied the doctrines of the Catholic Church. We memorized prayers and prayed the rosary. There were many dead saints to pray to, in every single day. They kept adding saints every year.
But still the Catholic religion had not given me the answers I needed. Four years in highschool but it wasn't clear to me who God was. It hasn't given me any contentment.
Until I went to college, I was a Mass Communication student but ended up shifting to Bachelor of Arts major in History.
Why did I shifted in history? I had a few reasons.
First, my teacher in communication theory in one of my majors, failed me. Second, I wasn't so smart. I had poor grades. I was a slow learner even when I was still in highschool. Third, Believe me or not, I love studying History. And the Fourth reason, it was the will of God.
When I shifted to history, I met my friends Ninay and Bam. Two things, I noticed about them was, they had the same smile and the same faith. They were both Born Again Christians.
What's with their smile? They were smiling so brightly because of their personal relationship with Jesus. That's when I asked myself, “Do I have a personal relationship with Jesus? Do I know God? Who is God? Who is Jesus? Who is the Holy Spirit?"
I got my answer when Ninay invited me and Bam to her Church's Christmas Party. Bam and I went there. On that faithful night, I became a Born Again Christian. It was on December 16, 1996, I'd received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
“I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me." (Proverbs 8:17 ESV)
“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:13 ESV)
