An old DVD player, one of those old portable ones, along with a DVD album. I shove them both in my duffle bag and grab one of those "pocket survival kits" along with camping tools I might need. I'm just about to leave when I hear the crashing of another shop window, I freeze in my tracks. I throw my bag over my shoulder and peer out the window, some teenagers wheel shopping carts full of booze from the liquor store. Guess no ones listening to the law anymore right? They exit out the doors of the mall leaving the whole place eerily quiet. I slowly and carefully leave the mall before anyone else comes by... but not before snatching a few things from the liquor store.
I walk back through the old allies and park myself behind an old dumpster. I pull out the DVD player and look through the albums, I pick a song I think I recognize and pop it in the player. I plug in some headphones from the tech shop and hit play. It's dead. I rummage through my bag and pull out the solar panel charger, again from the tech shop the humans were too oblivious to search. I set them down in a patch of sun and close my eye, it's safer to travel at night than it is to travel in the day. The music starts to play and a smile quickly climbs onto my face. I lay there and listen to music for hours as I wait for night to fall.

Grillbys pov

I gaze at my daughters sleeping form, she's so peaceful even in a time like this. I lay a soft kiss on her forehead and leave her to her dreams. There are a few monster cities isolated from the outside world, a few in the forests and a few underground. We've taken refuge in the old subway lines beneath the city. Always expanding past the walls and dogging out to make more space. I join the king in the make shift thrown room, he hasn't been well since the queen was taken. I step in to see a million monsters going in a million different directions.
"Suit up!" Undyne calls. "We got a beacon!"
"She's escaped?" I say as I throw on my armour.
"We're going to find out!" Frisk calls, attaching her sword to her back.
"Paps has Blaze let's go!" Sans calls as he hurried out the door. I don't want to leave blaze but papyrus will be looking after her and she's already asleep. I huff and suit up.
"Grillby you man the gates, this could be a trap," the king puts a hand on my shoulder, I nod and take my post. Frisk and sans usually have this job but frisk is human and can be very persuasive. I take a seat, It's going to be a long night.
"Thought you might like some company," mettaton sits next to me.
"Thanks," I reply weakly, looking ahead of me.
"Hey, we will find her, actually she'll probably be the one to find you," his words make me laugh.
"Not if I'm hidden underground."
"Come on darling, you know she's crafty. She'll be ok."
"I hope so," I mumble.
Not much else was said between us, until the search team and back, cheering.
"They've found her," I say standing up. "They actually found her. The queen walked gracefully, as if she had just returned from a lovely walk. Frisk was a step behind, walking with another human, a girl. She was injured yet fighting to get away.
"Your hurt!"
"I have to find delta! She can't take of Jackson by herself!"
"Then take a team but get yourself patched up first!" Frisk persists. They head to the hospital at get the new human patched up.
"Grillby, you are relieved, but I wish for you to question the human immediately," asgore passes me, he's joyful in a way I haven't seen in two years. I smile softly and nod. I strip myself of the heavy iron armour and hang it up. I'm about to leave when I grab my sword and strap it to my back again. I huff and walk to the hospital, I step inside as undyne exits a room.
"Punks in there," she motions with her head, I nod and enter.
"Hello," I smile softly and sit next to the injured human.
"Hey?" She grunts holding her bandaged abdomen. "How long till I can go? The other lady wouldn't tell me."
"As soon as you seem fit to travel. tell me, who are you and why did you save out queen?"
